Hexagram 27 Jaws/Nourishing unchanging

Hello All,

I received this answer in response to a question where I was asking about the future of a friendship with someone. I'm still very much a novice where it comes to the I Ching so I hope there is more to this answer than what I could garner which was essentially "Depends on its diet" ...lol!

Any insight on this would be much appreciated..thank you in advance :bows::bows:

Unchanging hexagrams! I figured I will take a stab at it. Not too sure myself, but here are some ideas. So, may be suggesting that you will get what you give, like you said, depends on it's diet. The connection will require a lot of nourishing, and should, in turn, provide nourishment back. But, I would mainly read this as a relationship that will be very hungry. The image of an open mouth gaping at me give me a feeling of a voracious apetite. Perhaps the Yi is suggesting you may need to watch how much you put into this relationship, that it could become very consuming. Also, it says here, be "careful of his words." Are you both very sensitive? I kind of get this feeling of neediness here, too... Makes me think of the astrological sign, Cancer.... Just my thoughts

According to my experience h 27 unchanging is about everything connected to mouth, providing nourishment yes, but also about talking.

Future of your friendship is talking and maybe sometimes coffee or dinner...that is all..

Hi Dancing White Ferret and Yamabushi, thank you both very much for your insights on this one. Interestingly, Dancing White, I happen to be a Water sign..not Cancer though I'm a Pisces . Also, so far, this friendship has mostly been about just chatting and meeting for coffee..lol..which we have continued to try and do for months now. However, this person has recently starting seeing someone they used to go out with once before and I have felt that things had become a little distant. Which is of course is completely natural as obviously when you re romantically involved with someone your world tends to get almost completely engulfed with the person you're seeing.

I asked the I Ching about the future of my friendship with this person mainly because I was concerned that I might be losing a good friend which I really don't want to happen.

Hi Bradford yes it most certainly does. It has to be two ways too. Which was one of the things I felt Hexagram 27 was about..not just "nourishing" others but also being "nourished" yourself, which is something Dancing White Ferret pointed out as well. There has to be a balance :bows:

The future of your relationship depends on what you feed it with. AIm high. Stay as high in the food chain as possible.

I hear the Yi saying it's really up to the both of you. I think this means you guys have a fairly decent shot at it, if you both are willing to do the work you are both capable of creating a relationship that works.
