Hi All. I asked this question" "How can I become more serene, confident and grateful in my circumstances"? and received Hex 45 changing line 3 ‘Being drawn. Good fortune, no mistake.
With truth and confidence, it is fruitful to make the summer offering.’

What possible could be the meaning of summer offering? I mean it it literally summer here but then what would the offering be?
Or is "summer offering not literal in the sense of the seasons of nature but something else entirely?

Thanks to anyone offering to help me understand.

The Wilhelm text has this to say on 45.3:

Often a man feels an urge to unite with others, but the individuals around him have already formed themselves into a group, so that he remains isolated. The whole situation proves untenable.
Then he ought to choose the way of progress, resolutely allying himself with a man who stands nearer to the center of the group, and can help him to gain admission to the closed circle.

So this seems to be advising courage and decisiveness. You have to take some initiative here in order to bring about change. This could be outside your comfort zone at first.
It could be something to do with aligning yourself with a group, maybe by getting to know an influential member of that group (rather than just remaining on the fringes).
Basically, it's saying that things can't continue as they are, so you have to "choose the way of progress".
This would mean adapting to a new circumstance and being willing to change as appropriate in order to grow.

45.3 changes to 31
31 is about mutuality. So this suggests that you will be welcomed into whatever new circumstance you choose, provided you bring the right attitude(influence) to it.

I hope this helps in some way.

My summer offering is an expensive a/c electric bill.

Being drawn toward the gathering is a good thing. The gathering are the parts of you that come together around you collectively. In the 60's we'd say, you're getting it together.

Being Drawn is 45.2, not 45.3, changing to 47, which would suggest conserving energy.
If you drew 45.3 the interpretation is quite a bit different.

On 45.2, the greater the demands that you make of life the less secure you are going to be.
So the best place to begin is to want what you have, and then to want what comes naturally.
Then it's easy to be grateful confident and serene.
45 is about a sense of security more than anything else,
so we begin with what we are already secure in.
This modest sacrifice is one of thanks for what you've been given,
not one of asking for even more next season, an idea also explored in 63.5.

There was a thread here once created by Rosada about 45.2 (if that's the line you actually received) . . it was about participating in some sort of committee in a school - she was drawn to it due to her position and she wanted to have it create substantial changes but nothing really came out of it - hence 47 where you keep upbeat and in good spirits despite getting no results . . (or, at least, no obvious ones!)

yup, I find that's always a good reminder to keep close with 47! I recently got the hexagram to a question about my dad and keeping him upbeat is a hard thing to do lately - that's the challenge of dry spells I guess . .

Yeah. In a creative dry spell myself. I feel I have an obligation to my aging brain to not mistake lethargy for tranquility , and keep looking for water, somewhere! in this damn lake. chuckle
