Good evening everyone, I've been following you for a long time but I've never written. I am going through a very heavy and heavy period since my dad died a month ago at the age of 67 due to a severe and fulminating tumor that took him away in 5 months. I am forty and I was very close to my dad, I loved him very much and I still can't fully understand that I will never see him again. In the months before his death he wrote something that for me took on a very profound meaning: "death for nature is not a problem, because it does not exist, it is just a change of relationship". I am not a believer, but I think inside my heart that there is a universal law that governs large as well as small, above and below and that the existence of this whole is a great and continuous transformation. I asked where my father's soul is and the answer was hex 53.5.6> 15.
I would be grateful if anyone would like to share this reading with me. Thank you very much, M.

dear Milena, first of all, i'm really sorry for your loss. i'm also not a believer, in the sense of identifying with any organised religion, however i do believe life goes on after death. some people might think in terms of life vs death, for me this is misleading, as (for me personally) birth is the only appropriate opposite of death.

the words your dad left you with are truly beautiful. in terms of the cast you received i would understand his development reached its completion. the change of hexagrams brings to mind not only heavenly realms (let's say other dimension rather than the usual understanding of the word heaven, the soul dimension within each and every one of us, as "the kingdom of heaven is within you"), as in line 6, where the wild goose gradually draws near the clouds heights, but also hexagram 15 can be translated as authenticity, which here i would understand as shedding or dispersing one's personae and eventually becoming one's true self, a free spirit. i hope you will find peace in this difficult situation ❤️

Hello Melina. In some ways this is a challenging reading to interpret and respond to: it assumes a 'soul' for your father, but at the same time you are a 'non-believer'; all this doesn't equate to being 'right' or 'wrong', but perhaps to a more flexible response from the Yi, which you are free to interpret as you want - or need to.

Hexagram 53 is called Settling. The hexagram statement says:

53: Auspicious for a girl’s wedding; Favorable augury (oracle, or omen).

And the two moving lines:

53.5: Wild geese settling on the hill. The three-years’ bride, though barren still, will not be overcome by ill;

53.6: Wild geese settling on the peak. Their plumes for dancers’ use we’ll seek;
- and both of these are said to be 'auspicious' (translation from Richard Rutt).

Here your father's soul is in a settled place, a place where he can settle and become comfortable. I would think it is best for a father to attend his daughter's (or even son's) wedding, so in whatever place he resides, he is still very much with you. He has settled among the peaks and hills. It's a place where he can overcome whatever 'barrenness' he may have felt in his previous life (or lives?), and he is now in a place that's pregnant with possibilities. Here there is dancing and the geese' plumage, which can be used by these dancers to adorn themselves.

There is also the image / idea of transformation: of geese feathers becoming dancers' plumage -- of your father becoming a wild goose, flying among other geese among peaks and hills. Perhaps his new 'soul' name is 'Wild-Geese-Settling-Among-Peaks'. Or, perhaps the words of Yi speak for themselves without interpretation.

Looking at the trigrams (the three line figures which make up the hexagrams), below is Mountain - the place where your father has settled. Above is Wind - he has been set free to explore in all directions. But eventually he comes to rest within Earth (Hex. 15's upper trigram):

So in the end your father, his soul, has become 'of this earth' - a settled, comfortable place where hills and peaks, and dancers and geese's plumage abide - and it's a place where one 'will not be overcome by ill' - and maybe it's even a place where he can heal from past ills.

I hope that's of use to you.

D.

I can't imagine more suitable hexagrams for indicating that your father's spirit has a strong vibration that allows him to smoothly find his way. RIP
