Just finished a job interview. It's a part time job in a very pleasant atmosphere with nice people, close by my home. The hours are unpredictable and the pay is good. I might be sent to other town now and again to work there as well. I'd meet a lot of people throughout the day and would look forward to this kind of work. I thought the interview went well and that I answered all of their questions in good form. But suddenly, when I left, I felt that maybe I hadn't engaged their interest [there were two interviewers] and was a bit concerned they said nothing about being in touch.

I asked the Yi as soon as I got home: What are my chances of having this job?

The casting: Hexagram 28.4 to 48. The line is "auspicious" which sounds like good news, however, refers in LiSe's interpretation to a possible "snake" [something behind the scenes?] and possible distress.

Anybody experienced with this line? I don't recall having ever had it before.

It just means as advice do not add any more stress to the situation, you are holding up just fine but cannot take any more on. I would get into a 48 place, find your revitalising connection. There is a flavour of no regrets with hex 28. the image of 48, does this job entail helping/councelling/aiding people /the community? If so I think you are able to do this work on your own.

or in direct response to your question, you held up fine and gave a sense of being part of their community.

Well I am literally part of their community when it comes to that. I'm at their facility for various reasons quite a lot and have family who go there often as well. This is our community hub so to speak. The thing that concerned me after I left was that I realised I didn't really have questions of them. I felt that I understood what the job entails, but I suppose I should have asked something -- and i didn't.

I like CC's take.

Maybe Yi's respond had to do with your after-interview anxiety aswell.

If you are already a member of their community.. maybe the whole situation might be lighter than a formal interview ?

For the sake of sharing, I received this line only a couple of days ago in response to whether I should pursue the opportunity to see a specific professional who's well reputed within a circle of friends but it not very available, does not give appointments, does not have a phone. After a first unsuccessful attempt I simply thought it better not to bother since it just looked too complicated , especially considering the uncertain benefit. I was also discouraged by the second message in the line:

Reliance on weak support is unfortunate.

I hope this is not your case, Arabella.

You're right, I chatted with everybody there before we got down to a serious interview. I'm having after-interview jitters now -- time to come back to a balance. There is a lot on tenterhooks and various issues percolating besides this one and I need to keep perspective and not go on emotional overload.

Thanks Cc and anemos,

Arabella,

Thanks,

Miakoda

I got a telephone call from the head of the organisation that really complimented my interview and presentation. She wanted to come back to me especially and say thank you because what I presented gave them even more ideas for their programme. However, I didn't get the job because several of the candidates had degrees in the subject and I don't -- and their entire careers were gauged in this direction; whereas, mine wasn't. However, as it turned out, I had other things coming my way, that I wasn't even AWARE of, like my EX just desserting the family home, not having sold it in three years, and I was about to have the entire thing dumped onto ME. It has taken me six months since to unravel all the issues, sell the house, and redeem what I could of my investment.

In the end, even if i'd got the job, I would have had to leave almost immediately. I was glad i did represent myself well, and met more people in the community because I did the interview process. But, the future held something entirely different -- the snake moving in the background that I didn't see!

I think it's an auspicious reading because, even if I didn't get precisely what I thought I wanted, there were treacherous uknowns out there. And ultimately, I made far more by taking hold of the house and selling it and getting that chapter done than if I'd had the job I had applied for.

All's well that ends well!!:hug:Arabella

Arabella,

I'm sorry you've had to go through so much and heartened to hear that you're riding it out -- maybe even for the better....

Since your question was only about how you did in the interview and not about whether you would actually get the job or whether the job would be a good one for you, the auspiciousness of the line was spot on. The interesting part is that of all of the positive lines you could've received, you got the one associated with 28, the overburdened ridgepole. (it's like in Casablanca when Bogart's character says: Of all the gin joints in all the world, she had to walk into mine...) The I Ching seems to have been giving you a hint of the difficulties that would be coming.

This was a good reminder that attention should be paid to more than just the line. Thanks for following up. I wish more would report the outcomes of their readings!

All best,

Miakoda

Posting outcomes

It does seem almost a matter of courtesy to post an outcome when you know what it is -- and I sometimes remember and sometimes not.

Maybe as software is being developed there would be some way of tracking which threads you've completed and which are still hanging open. For instance, tick a box and you get a reminder to post an outcome until you indicate you've done it.

Might be something to keep in the background for future development?
