Hi,

I am new to the forum and have registered as I am interested in learning the practice of divination. What's a good way to start with it?

Hi,

I am new to the forum and have registered as I am interested in learning the practice of divination. What's a good way to start with it?

I think that depends upon your nature. Seems to me that the Yi encourages individuality, and distinguishing between things is its most prominent function. If your nature is to idealize, you will idealize what your reading says. You will also be drawn to sources and means that fit you; though it's always good to stay open to aspects that are unfamiliar.

I agree with Peter, that 3 coins with heads and tails, and a copy of Hilary's book, or LiSe's website, or if you like a more strict, grandiose and morally driven approach, Wilhelm is king. If you thirst for knowledge, Bradford's (still free) downloadable work is vast, a veritable hexagram 55 of viable information, along with calculatedly placed ponds of poetic license. What suits your style, what are you seeking in it? Then it would be easier to recommend what might work best for you. But it's kind of like a bunch of humans gathered around their only source of water, and debating which manner of drinking is best.

My nature is to learn through hands-on experience, which includes making lots of mistakes. My Dad always asked why I have to do everything the hard way? Fact is, mistakes are my teachers, resistance makes me fit enough to live.. and learn; every failure gives me insight into success, therefore I can not fail.
