Update/outcome: It's taken a long time, but I am now working with the company that was the subject of many of these readings (Job X). I am managing a short-term project there, it is going extremely well and, as suspected, it seems like a natural fit for both parties. Interestingly, the contract is through my own business, so it's not actually an either/or situation where I had to choose between my business and working with this organisation. Had a brief discussion with the GM about what happened a couple of years ago and the 32UC now makes sense, as in, it took a bit of time before the opportunity came to fruition, a few cycles of change were necessary for both parties.
