Hi guys,
I’ve recently been focused on my health and getting stronger, it’s a slow process but I’m getting there. I was reflecting recently on how I feel so much better when I am abroad anywhere, like I can be myself without the constant reminders of family themes etc.

So a few days ago, I asked the very broad question of should I move abroad soon? I got Hexagram 59.4 > 6

Today I was browsing the internet and came across a visa that the US offers where there’s 55,000 people a year chosen. I sat thinking about the pros & cons of applying, considering the economy and what on earth I would do for work, I don’t know anyone there but I don’t mind moving somewhere where I don’t know anyone. I’m aware that if I got it I would really need to think this through and plan. So I asked the Iching:

Outcome of applying for the visa, and it answered me with 59.4 again!

I’ve browsed this hexagram on here and used other resources, it seems to encourage moving abroad ‘cross the great stream’, ‘disperse’ could be referring to my feelings of wanting to leave the family home and individuate, Wilhelm says of this line ‘his light is great’, I’m wondering if this could simply mean - good idea. But I do not understand in this line the part about bringing ‘discord’ and ‘partisanship’ to an end that many authors mention in their interpretations, the background hex is also 6, conflict, there’s a lot of this at home between members of the family, there always has been, I’d like to be far away from it.

What do you guys make of this line in the context of my query? Thanks guys! 💛

If it were me, I might think the second, repeated 59.4 means "Yes, that!" about the visa.

But that's a guess, and it would have to make sense in real life, obviously.

But 59.4 itself seems encouraging, too.

Which authors do you mean? (I may or may not have their books to look at.)

Offhand I'd guess it's referring to the background discord from 6 being the relating hexagram. 59.4 itself seems like a solution, not a problem. There's good fortune, and gain, and not everyone would think of looking into visas, or something.

Hi Liselle,
Thank you for responding! I just meant the authors that give translations like Wilhelm and Legge etc. I don’t have books either, I just use websites to find translations. I’m thinking along the same lines as you, that it’s an encouraging answer, I was surprised to get the same answer twice in the space of a week for both queries also, thank you for your input 💛

59 <> 6
'Dispersing' through 'Contention'

59.4 - You can't make a great tasting omelette without breaking a few eggs.

... or maybe you see this reading as conveying something else.

Good Luck

Hi my_key ,

I understand the saying, but don’t really get what it has to do with my query and the reading, would you mind explaining this further? (This may just be me being a bit slow today)

Hi Sara369
From your previous post, perhaps you just need to join a few dots together
I’ve browsed this hexagram on here and used other resources, it seems to encourage .... ‘cross the great stream’,
Now there's a tasty new omelette in the making waiting for you on the other side
‘disperse’ could be referring to my feelings of wanting to leave the family home and individuate,
I'm sure you'll have to crack a few eggs to bring about opportunities for these feelings to come to a place of balance. The eggs cannot remain in the state in which they were originally laid: change is required for individuation.
Wilhelm says of this line ‘his light is great’, I’m wondering if this could simply mean - good idea. Rather than 'Conflict' reflect on 'Contention'.

'Conflict' conjures images of long term disagreement or argument and focuses on the discord that arises and bias (partisanship) that emerges from long term disagreement. However, there is great light to be found if the rubble and debris of conflict can be cleared aside.

'Contention' conjures different images, ones of opportunities for success, assertion of a position and cries for justice. Hex 6 advocates that to bring this about you wrap everything in a set of clear plans before taking action. This new omelette is going to need a recipe to follow to ensure it is as tasty as you would like it to be.

In this way, once you have crossed the great river, the new omelette's fantastic taste will replace the harsh taste of the old omelette that is being served up now. This will slowly fade away.

... or it might mean something completely different for you.

Good Luck
