meditation for my father hex 39 changing to 15

Recently my father had been in alot of turmoil, job- house troubles and the usual business. So he turned back to transcenedental meditation, he was in one of their courses many years ago. Being a debious organization, i felt bad for him and wanted to help him with more effective meditation. So i suggested zen meditation to him. Because of the simplicity. I turned to the i ching to see how things would evolve and got hex 39. Not a good sign. So basically i am in a situation in which i need to to direct him to good results in meditation, but he knows squat about the meditation business, and all the talk about destroying your ego is too far from him. Just stress relief.

For example,the idea of runing a diary after the meditation to deal with the obstructions has crossed my mind.

Transcendental Meditation was the Zen meditation of its day and time. Please consider that he might do better with what he already knows.

Regarding the hex 39, would you please say the exact question that you asked?

sure, i asked "will my father succeed in zen meditation?" and got hex 39 changeing to 15 the lines i don't remember.

Hi. If it changed to Hex. 15, it would have been line 5 that changes: Surrounded by great obstruction, friends arrive. I think it's a good line, and Hex. 15 is all about centering oneself, humility, humbleness, modesty, moderation, and I think mediation helps you reach that. Good luck.

Hexagram 39 is about pausing and not advancing, because there are obstacles all around.

Line 5 is about allies or an ally who comes. That doesn't necessarily mean the ally gets you through the obstacles ...

This response is difficult to interpret because you were asking about your father, not about yourself. It is difficult to understand if the meaning is that he should pause from learning Zen meditation or you should pause from trying to teach it to him. Most of the lines of hex 39 say not to proceed with your plans.
