Here's another novice question on the relation of yi's answers to time...am I right to assume that yi gives answers based only on the situation at that given moment, rather than factoring in things which may happen in future?

I asked two questions, regarding a situation: the first was "What does fate have in store if I stay in this situation?" I received 19.4.5.6 > 10. I asked "What does fate have in store if I leave the situation?" I got 10, no changes.

I"m wondering in general how present circumstances relate to two similar answers to two seemingly opposite questions. Also, I've read Karcher's notion of the relating hexagram, but I'm looking for fresh insights on how to fully understand them. Thanks!

Hi mercury

Just in case it could be helpful

The most important issue is not what fate would bring; but how you would walk throu it (hex 10)

Best wishes

If you find out how to fully understand them, I hope you'll share it with the rest of us. As for fresh insights, I receive them as much from enthused newbies as I do from the the old salts. There's always one more hill just beyond the next to climb, and every hill leads to a valley, and every valley to a hill.

Mercury, I also think that if you stay in this situation, you will eventually peak out , in a very dignified manner, (maybe with a retirement party lauding your contributions ; ) and then move on to find your way elsewhere.
Leaving now might entail a risk of some sort and require some caution, yet there is nothing saying it can't be an adventurous risk. 10 unchanging seems to make the idea of risk particularly strong. Are you up for surfing tigers? All depends on what you want.
