seeing a friend

Ahhh...the holdiays....
I asked,"What about seeing A. while I am "home" for Christmas?" (This is an old friend--life has taken us down different paths and I am just wondering if it will serve either or both of us to see eachother. You might say that I am in a period of "molting," as refelcted by the secondary hexagram below and I have a lot going on personally so am being careful about my energy and priorities....And this is definitely someone with ties to my past. Still it has always been a sweet and supportive friendship...Just not sure where it fits now).

And really felt that it could be interpreted either way--in LiSe's translation is says, it does not matter if you are on different levels, recognize "your kind." So perhaps acknowledging that there is something important between us regardless of what it may look like on the outside. But other translations (ewald) seem to say there is not much of a connection here. Karcher says something like there is a connection but the group has not found its way...and alludes to more work needing to be done around it...
What do ya'll think?

When I asked again I got 5 unchanging. At first glance this could be saying, "No, wait." But the emphasis on gathering and eating and drinking with friends in 5 could also be saying to lighten up and enjoy the company, while these larger or deeper movements that are happening for me are in process.

Any input?

This quite clearly indicates that it would be a good idea to visit your friend, a happy reunion.

WF, thank you--when I saw that you had replied I wanted to acknowledge what I feel is generosity on your part in taking the time to respond to so many messages.

Any comments on my question about number 5? Do you think it always means to wait or can it mean, as I said before, to chill out and enjoy while you are waiting for something else? I am also wondering about 5.5 changing to 11. Any general interpretations on that one?

Hex 5 does mean to wait but also to be patience, it does not mean sit back and do nothing, you have to keep to your plan and when the time is right then everything will proceed okay. So, don't make your busy, just relax and take it as it comes, lots of things will have to be taken into consideration before you will actually be able to meet.


Hex 5.5 >11 This says that you cannot do everything at once, just relax, but keep your final goal in mind and when the time is ripe you will achieve it. Hex 11 is about peace and a successfully outcome.

update on seeing a friend

Just a quick update on the situation I wrote about:
I asked about whether to pursue seeing my friend and I received 13.5 to 49

That felt resonant ..but I could not figure out why I had received 5 unchanging in regard to the sitation.

Well, I did decide to let her know that I'd be coming into town and we played phone tag for a few days (waiting...) and then when we finally talked and I told her I'd be there she told me that she is flying out the same day I arrive and will be gone the whole time I'm there. She was very disappointed that we'd be missing eachother (I thought she might want to see me but was humbled by her expression of how much she wanted to see me...) Anyway, we had a sweet conversation and agreed we'll just have to find a time to get together in coming months.

I guess the Yi was saying that although the visit was a good idea we were just going to have to wait for it to happen....
