Hi, I'd very like someone elses' opinion on this, I am not sure whether the yi is telling me to wait or to press on..

I asked 'Should i communicate with him? ' maybe a more accurate question would have been 'should i make the first move? '

I received Hexagram 51 Thunder

Thunder repeated: the image of SHOCK.
Thus in fear and trembling
The superior man sets his life in order
And examines himself.

With 2 changing lines

Six in the second place means:
Shock comes brining danger.
A hundred thousand times
You lose your treasures
And must climb the nine hills.
Do not go in pursuit of them.
After seven days you will get them back again.

This pictures a situation in which a shock endangers a man and he suffers great losses. Resistance would be contrary to the movement of the time and for this reason unsuccessful. Therefore he must simply retreat to heights inaccessible to the threatening forces of danger. he must accept his loss of property without worrying too much about it. When the time of shock and upheaval that has robbed him of his possessions has passed, he will get back again without going in pursuit of them.

and

Six in the fifth place means:
Shock goes hither and thither.
Danger.
However, nothing at all is lost.
Yet there are things to be done.

This is a case not of a single shock but of repeated shocks with no breathing space between. Nonetheless, the shock causes no loss, because one takes care to stay in the center of movement and in this way to be spared the fate of being helplessly tossed hither and thither.

Does this seem unfavourable for communication to be resumed?

The transformed Hexagram is 58:

THE JOYOUS. Success.
Perseverance is favorable.

The joyous mood is infectious and therefore brings success. But joy must be based on steadfastness if it is not to degenerate into uncontrolled mirth. Truth and strength must dwell in the heart, while gentleness reveals itself in social intercourse. In this way, one assumes the right attitude toward God and man and achieves something. under certain conditions, intimidation without gentleness may achieve something momentarily, but not for all time. When, on the other hand, the hearts of men are won by friendliness, they are led to take all hardships upon themselves willingly, and if need be will not shun death itself, so great is the power of joy over men.

THE IMAGE

Lakes resting one on the other:
The image of THE JOYOUS.
Thus the superior man joins with his friends
For discussion and practice.

This seems like a very favourable hexagram to communicate, no?!

Im quite confused! Thanks for your help !

i think that the answer is to not comunicate with him.... in the way you think.
second line show that's a time vaste.
the positivity in both moving lines is to see the ephemeral. to act by considering it.
joy is what you'll reach by acting that way.

Hmm...I wonder if the I Ching is suggesting that rather than making a gesture towards him you should do the opposite, ignore him - play hard to get. Don't pursue your treasure, let him go and see if he comes back to you.
