"'How can I be less anxious about this issue?'

14.6 -> 34

'Why am I so obsessive?' and I got the exact same response

14.6 -> 34

'What do I need to know about this situation'?

14.5.6 -> 43"

I had a friend once who asked the same question of the Yi (a relationship question) three times, and got the exact same response three times. So she decided to take the result seriously. It takes that with some people.

There are two possibilities, and the first is that the Yi's responding directly to your question. Which would mean that your anxiety and your obsession and what you need to know about the situation all require your attention to the high line of Hex 14. If that's the case, my take on it would be this: what you're experiencing as anxiety and obsession is in fact a *very* positive situation from some other, very important perspective. I'm sorry, but that's what 14.6 means - it's really good news.

The other possibility is that the Yi's not responding directly to your question about the anxiety and obsession, but is instead giving you something to focus on right now. In other words, instead of focussing on obsession and anxiety, focus on how you are presently receiving help from a higher (or deeper, or more inner) dimension of your being, and that this is not just fortunate, but absolutely advantageous in every respect.

If it was me, I'd opt for the second take lol.

I can nearly copy that, because long ago, when I hardly knew the IC, I once asked the same question (yup, also a relationship question) 4 times in a row and got the same hexagram 4 times, with different lines though. That convinced me that there must really be something in this mysterious oracle.

Just a few months ago, I asked the same question, 3 times in a row, about, yes, a relationship question. But also to test a beautiful new oracle on a website. Three times the same hexagram with ALL lines changing. But since the guy of the website had turned old and young around, I think 3 times unchanging might be closer to reality.

It did not take that to make me believe the Yi, I already did, but it did tell me some about the oracle on the website... GOOD oracle ... if you decide yourself how to read the hexagram you get...

Hi Omshante,
I agree with you. Obsession can be a good thing. It depends on what you obsess about and what it is you can 'bring' to the obsession. Great things can be done that way.
In my experience, I find that obsession sometimes is the loooooong road to creativity. After tossing that issue a thousand times in your mind, sometimes you find the solution. I'm sure there are shortcuts, though.
Other times, obsessions are just like an addiction of the mind. You can't stop thinking about it but you also don't want to stop. And it's no good because it's a waste of energy.
Thanks so much for your help. Upon re-reading, something you said caught my attention:

"ask the oracle to give you a meditation, if you like"

how do I do that? I mean, I can request the meditation but once I get the answer (the hex), what do I do with it, how do I meditate with/on it?

Dobro,

Thanks so much for your response. You are another one of the members in this forum whose responses I look for with interest. Both takes sound great to me. It has occurred to me, specially at this particular stage in my life, that maybe there's a reason why I must go through this 'discomfort'. Maybe I'm dealing with old ghosts and maybe this is really opening a new way of life for me, which is something I've been desiring for a while.

And, as far as getting the same hexagram, I seldom get the same ones in a row, but in a short period of time, when asking for somebody else 'what should they know?', I got hexagram 38 with 4 moving lines each time, even if not the exact same ones. But it was so amazing, specially when reading the hexagram using Lise's translation, because they are right on the money about the attitudes this person has and, IMHO, should change. Yes, the Yi speaks loud and clear sometimes. And sometimes I feel so humbled, so thankful, so truly amazed to find it so nice and so patient, in spite of our 'youthful folly'.
