Hm, there must have been things I missed. I thought the tribe called upon the frogs, and the father did not believe it would help them. But then the frogs came and so much water that the dam burst. His not-believing was his miscalculation.
But it was many years ago that I saw it. Maybe in old women too memory is the second thing to go?

you might be right. I thought I saw him plant a bomb, but the picture was unclear to me at that point. I thought the point was that the prayers did work, they just worked this time in an unexpected way. Someone giving them a little help. I think it was the father's final gift to the son. And the son's final gift to the father. The father came to believe, and the son got his wish, both from his prayers, and his father. I kind of like to look at it that way, but maybe not. Any way, it was a beautiful story.
