A friend just sent me a link to this website, Ancient Origins. From what little I've explored, it seems to be fact- and science-based. (And from what little I've seen, it has little to nothing to do with Ancient Aliens!)

This story about the origins of the Tarim Basin mummies is interesting, though his describing these people as 'white' sounds odd to me. It's just that when he talks about the Chinese or people from India or Iran, he doesn't refer to a generic (but incorrect) description of their skin color.

Located in northwestern China’s Xinjiang region, the Tarim Basin .... acquired international renown in the 1990s when hundreds of naturally mummified remains were discovered. Dating back to between 2,000 BC and 200 AD, these Tarim Basin mummies had a seemingly “Western” appearance. In order to solve this mystery and understand the origins of these first settlers in the basin, experts used genome sequencing.

I don't know for sure, but it seems that these people may have originally come anywhere(s) from a vast region encompassing Russia, the Near East, Central Asia, and possibly Eastern Europe - though calling them European or white make me think that that may have immigrated from Ireland or something.

Best, D
