Imagine yourself being able to see or to hire somebody who can see the future. They tell you, or you see it clearly. The idea is to avoid trouble, not to make millions. You see the trouble, you get out of your way to avoid it, but you fall into new trouble. Why? Because of life, that is how it works. The strategy is correct, even though its of almost no use.

But lets say you get such a prediction, its telling you to your face what to do, when and where. What is it? A navigation map through time, a tridimensional space, changing constantly. Its telling you what to do and guess what. You don´t do it. You take your chances with "Not Doing" and instead keep asking another question. You are "UNSURE".

What is the use of knowing without knowing how to act on it? Salú

What is the use of knowing what will happen?

I see it this way:

Perhaps it is the result of a desire that all living beings have to join forces in harmony with the surrounding environment, whether that environment is inert or alive, in order to be able to express their particularity as a living being. Being alive, as a counterpoint to being dead, implies this very thing... the particularity of "each species" in harmony with a multi-diversified whole.
Of course, at the DNA level, and the entire "hidden path" that leads to what is particular to each species, the question "What is the use of knowing what will happen?" is answered by living and adapting in the ways that each species "learns to be viable in
long term"... something that is slowly being incorporated into that way of being.
We as a human species also have our particular way of living and being... we also want to be in harmony with each step we take in a given direction, which also implies being aware of what is not appropriate so that we can dance to the sound of that harmony. .. for us to live implies always being in this limbo of uncertainty and perhaps "What is the use of knowing what will happen?" be the most efficient way we find to try to be in tune with the unknown and by trial and error we get the harmonious step more often than not... we all want to live, and that implies harmony, with others and with the environment.. ..a constant unstable balance like a "circus trapeze artist balanced on top of the cable"

We try to be in tune, also through trial and error with the help of Yijing, certainly our way of trying to be in tune with the next step, and thus be able to participate more often in the right harmony...no certainties, only the possibility of valid participation and harmonious in a few more steps.

For me, it's not about being able to see the future. I'm sometimes surprised when experiencing the high morality of the I Ching. It will never tell you to misbehave or be aggressive, but rather the other way around. I mostly ask for the right way to relate to problems, questions, and other things. "How shall I understand this idiot's attack on me ?" to example (well... taken out of the air) - because I don't think the I Ching should be used for bad/evil behaviour - and not: "How shall I beat him once and for all ?". The answers never tell me to act badly, in other words. And if I were shown the future I believe I would go insane; the past is troublesome and complicated enough to me, I mean.

Sometimes, at least for me, it is useful to guess what it is more probably to happen just to avoid anxiety or anguish. For example, I had a very, very important test and in I had spent two years studying and I asked Yi about it. The book answered me I should study and dedicate to it, trust myself and keep calmed and I certainly passed the exam.
The book didn´t say "you´ll pass", but it told me I should trust in all the effort I had dedicated to it so for me the answer was "you´ll pass".

The Oracle can act as your mentor, in my experience it wants you to grow, become a better person and guide your life towards fulfilment (if you let it). I find it useful to know what the future can be even if I don't know when or exactly how it will happen or exactly how it will look like. Because it gives you a destination, where to aim for and it motivates you to keep working on it because you know where you are going. You can make that future happen if you walk in that path, or not, you still have choices. It also gives you hope if you are despairing.
Yes, sometimes it will speak very clearly warning you about bad choices or danger but this is different to having every single step of your life mapped out in full detail, that's not living, that's being a robot.
The readings are quite often not very clear and with room for doubt, there is always an element of #4 Not Knowing, and this is on purpose and necessary in my opinion, it builds your character and your ability to trust, and it keeps you on your toes. The readings can give very practical advice but also they teach you to be a better person and to understand how the world works. Lastly I don't believe the Oracle will give you information that will harm or corrupt you in any way, it will only give you what you need to know. This is why I sometimes get frustrated because I can tell it won't answer me directly. Sometimes it will tell me this is none of your business, or it will tell me off very bluntly.

If you knew everything there will be zero growth for you.

I asked the I Ching, “What is the use of knowing what will happen?”
I received 15 uc.
Modesty creates success.
The superior man carries things through.
Thus the superior man reduces what is too much,
And augments that which is too little.
He weighs things and makes them equal.

That final line “He weighs things and makes them equal” reads to me like the I Ching is saying, “The one thing you need to know about the future is that it all balances out.“
