When will I find myself? Hexagram 21.6 to 51

This is a scary answer. I asked this question regarding my identity and who I am. Hexagram 21.6 says something about being deaf to good counsel and 51 says something about repeated shock until one reaches cosmic truth. It sounds almost like Im heading for a roller coaster ride of my life, and I hate roller coasters.

Someone please shed some light on this...

21.6 > 51

The casting is auspicious. Self discipline leads to the shock of spiritual insight. You could apply the methods your education has given you to the study of yourself.

Deep question! And agreeing with pocossin, an auspicious answer. It's as if you're asking how you can release the little petty self so that the higher self can lead. This is generally a painful path, but well worth it. The sufis say the self does not go with laughter and caresses, it must be chased with sorrows and drowned in tears. Certainly 21.6 fodder. And such activity is shocking! Its a shock to know who you are over what you thought you were. As well the cangue process would be a shock. But if its your path, you can only persevere, and be grateful.

Best wishes!

well, i certainly agree that it would be a shock to find out who I am versus who I thought I was. I kinda have an idea who I am, but still figuring it out. As for poccosins comment I have been using my college philosophy classes to figure out who I am. The classes give me great insight and understanding to how the world works.

. . . I have been using my college philosophy classes to figure out who I am.

Divination is knowlege of essence. Essence is occulted by and disclosed in phenomena. So far as I know, there is yet no philosophy of divination. Don Ihde's _Experimental Phenomenology_ (Google Book partial view) makes a good start but doesn't get all the way there.

Occultism is the study of occult or hidden wisdom (forbidden knowledge). To the occultist it is the study of "truth", a deeper truth that exists beneath the surface: "The truth is always hidden in plain sight". . . Direct insight into or perception of the occult does not usually consist of access to physically measurable facts, but is arrived at through the mind or the spirit. The term can refer to mental, psychological or spiritual training. . . Occultism, on the other hand, is concerned with the nature of the "thing-in-itself". This is often accomplished through direct perceptual awareness, known as mysticism.
