going back and forth on this all day. want to just get it over with. I can see how this must of all been a mis-understanding so i drew this Hex - I looked at Hilarys translation and then, when i looked at the Legge translation, it was Difficulty at The Beginning. this makes sense.

I believe this relates to The Beginning and How I can assist in being proactive about starting it. with my hesitations and stalling...i think i should do the call. I am just afraid in a way, that he will not welcome this call.

I really believe this has been a mis-understanding. as i sit in my room praying and remembering the last time we spoke. you see, with emails/texts/cell phones and even telephone calls, these things can definately be bad, especially when two people are trying to "form" a friendship.

I think something was said that he misunderstood. i think he thinks that i was stalling him because i had another date (so what if that were the case) and he, like a little baby, texted me saying that HE TOO WAS GOING OUT.

Do you think that this guy will contact me? what is the second Hex refering to, i can't put them together.

The first Hex, #3, did say it clear and then it changed on line 5
Does the Hex indicate that there will be communication? I just texted him asking him if we were still on for next sat and if he would like to call me at home this evening. its after 9pm here in AZ, and i am sure he has to be in his office early in the morning, so i don't know if i will get a response. But, this is about the second time i have tried to reach him and he has not responded. NO MORE FROM ME.

I am feeling a bit humilated already but sad because it started off rough. but the Hex did say that it would be a difficult beginning. (LOL) hopefully this would have some success.

Hex 17 is about pursuing this man but when you are after someone you need to do it in the right way, in this case by acting reserved and not pushy, or desperate. Patience! A nice lady doesn't throw herself at a man.

Yes, but your question has line 3.5 before it, thus colouring Hex 17 differently. You still go after him but at a slower pace and with some reserve.

Ok, but there are also translators who don't even need to go out of their front door, like Wu Jing-Nuan or Deng Ming-Dao...
...not to mention Alfred Huang, who spent some 30 years in Chinese prisons...

Anyway, Wilhelm is undoubtedly an authority, but I find it very helpful to compare it to other authors, if only because translation from ancient Chinese is objectively very problematic, so sometimes you can find the same Chinese text getting different meanings depending on who translates it...
Regarding changing lines, they're simply the lines that change, from broken to solid or vice versa, thus making the primary hexagram change into the relating one... if I understood the question... but if you click on "Learn", right below the Clarity logo on this page, you'll find a lot of useful info about the basics of Yijing, and also some advice on translations and other books...

The hex also says to do nothing. You need to read the beginning, the part that comes before the moving lines, too.

I think that it means that he will eventually chill out and call you as Hex 24 is about a turning point, so as things have gone off the rails here, then Hex 24 says that soon things will work themselves out nicely, hopefully before Saturday.
