I used to be active in a forum (astrology), lots oy years. Actually I was a more or less prominent writer there (having published some books and articles), for some time I was the administrator of that forum. I had been wondering whether to go on or stop being activethere. There were changes going on that I felt I couldn't put up with (e.g. right-wing political views etc.) Although I I had been asked more than once to go on being present and writing, two days ago I stopped being a member there, got "unplugged" - following a sudden decision. However, soon after that there were doubts, even a slight feeling of being guilty.
I asked: What is the I Ching's view of my decision to leave that forum?
I got 31.3, resulting in 33 - withdrawal. 31.3 : quite a critical view. But what about 33? In spite of that view - should I feel content having finally got there? So my decision finally has already proved or will prove to be the right one? On the one side I felt somewhat relieved, on the other side there's the feeling of loneliness.

Good God, what a shame - certainly 45 - don't know how that could have happend.

Gathering.... I left that forum (for some reasons I can't sum up here). I decided to be on my own (writing only in my Blog). Now the result is "gathering". No, there's no way back. Another forum? I feel there will have to be a gathering of my thoughts,my mental activities first (?)

It seems to me that you are interpreting the answer differently from the question you asked.
The question is:

What is the I Ching's view of my decision to leave that forum?

It's view is H31.3 > H45
H31 is called Mutual Influence and H45 Gathering.
I think this reflects exactly what the function of the forum was for you: getting together with others who share the same interest and exchange ideas with each other.
The text of the 3rd line says "Influence in the thighs. Compelled to pursue. To continue brings humiliation". Doesn't this reflect exactly what you yourself write:

Perhaps in this case you read the answer a little too much from the idea of "what should I do now" rather than the question you asked.

Just as an aside, when unexpected readings pop up out of nowhere like 31: 3 <> 33 did for you, I always think it is worthwhile giving then some consideration. After all they moved heaven and earth to be noticed.

maybe there was some sense in getting the wrong second hex.
What you've said is most revealing - at least some of my doubts have gone, and I feel much better, I better look forward to whatever may come... Thx a lot!
