I'm working on a novel for a couple of years now and I'm at a point where I'm wonderng if I'm wasting my time.

I asked should I continue writing my book XXX or am I wasting my time?

I received HEXAGRAM 53 LINE 3 AND LINE 5 CHANGING TO HEXAGRAM 23

Now Line 5 is positive but I don't get hexagram 23. I can never figure that hexagram. Does it have more meanings besides separation?

My experience has shown it can mean stripping away what is dead, just like it says, so I would take this to mean editing your novel. Get to the core of what you really want to come out of this novel. Cut out what isn't really contributing to your story. I think 53 here means you still have a lot of work to do on it, line 3 shows take your time finishing it or your dreams for your book will not be realized, and resonates with 23. Perhaps you were too hasty writing some parts of the book, and those parts need to be removed or revised. 53.5, if you take your time nothing can stop you from reaching your goal! It sounds like you should go through it with a fine tooth comb, and really take some more time on it, but in the end, you will see success!

Sounds great! Just to clarify, my first thought with this reading was working on how the book flows. Like taking out any speed bumps and maybe greasing the wheels a bit. Glad you found that post useful... And great idea for a book!
