A college of mine got a reading for the question "what is my main mission in this life?", and I had a hard time interpreting the result. I would appreciate your perspectives.

24-6-27.

She had been working very hard for decades and is now a succesful professional at a big consulting firm. She had a smooth growing-up experience, going through schools and then landed a job in this firm twenty years ago. But she remained unmarried with no kids as she went through a couple failed relationship when she was younger. Nowadays she is thinking about taking it easy, and maybe focusing on taking care of elder parents, which she seems to enjoy. After years of constant pressure, she feels very tired prefessionally but she has to figure out life objectives for her remaining years before considering resigning from the firm (firm values her role a lot).

24-6 is the last stage of "rebuilding from ashes" in my text. 27's theme is about nourishment. Is her mission of life rebuilding something...from previous life? The only people she provides nourishment right now seems to be her parents. Is the rebuilding related to her relationship with the current parents in the previous life? Can this be interpreted sensibly without using the concept of reincarnation? I have not told her my interpretations yet.

P.S. When I interpreted IC answers to the same quesitons for other people, the concept of "previous life" were not necessary.

It is very relevant to this life IMO. She may return home to care for her parents and find the fulfillment she seeks. She may have to sacrifice her current life but will likely feel better going back to where she has already been.

Off the bat, I'd say that her main mission in life is not to miss the spiritual boat. i.e. to sort out her priorities as to what is truly important to her so that she may find deep core meaning or nourishment and thus be in the position to live a more fulfilling life.

So, what do we have? She's a driven personality, good at her job and created professional success. A smooth growing up (conventional?) and an A-Z career ladder path. All this has led to "years of constant pressure." A couple of failed relationships when younger which meant: "...she remained unmarried with no kids." Clearly, that was a conscious choice suggesting unresolved pain and "issues" resulting in an overemphasis on ambition and career and a distancing of her emotions.

In other words, she is the one in need of nurturing and nourishing. Taking care of her parents may well be what she needs but that is somewhat different quality of nourishing. Perhaps there is room for more personal expansion that can include relationship (s)?

In this context, 24.6 may mean that her mission in life is not to miss the spiritual boat that would unlock an aspect of herself that would revitalise or re-enchant her life. It doesn't mean she has lost this chance of course, - that still remains her mission. So, I'd say that is quite an exciting prospect.

Figuring out her objectives may conceivably mean using her professional talents in ways that nurture others and thereby opening up her emotional centre to new pathways. This in turn may open the doors to the nourishment she needs. There's sometimes often a bit of obstinacy or stubbornness involved with 24.6 in my experience which tends to go with repeating cycles of learned behaviour and an erroneous concept of self. Suddenly, however, there might come a time when - we get it! And the cycle of renewal leads away from repetition. 24.6 may also refer to certain opportunities that should not be missed that would lead her in a positive direction. Though often with these chances there may be challenging and stimulate some of our long held fears. "Feel the fear and do it anyway" might be pertinent if that's the case.

That being so, she may want to search within and ask what needs to be renewed and rebirthed in her life? What is asking to be re-evaluated or reborn so that she doesn't refuse a deep part of herself that has been neglected? Nourishing others by using her life long skills within an entirely different milieu may assist her in receiving what she needs in unexpected ways.

I don't have all the info about this lady so much of the above may be way off. Nonetheless, I hope there's some food for thought in there and she finds her way.

Thanks leepdx and topal. I see what you meant now, no concept of previous life is necessary. Obviously so far things had not been fulfilling incertain aspects thus need to "rebuild" and to find true nourishments. Experience so far had prepared her to appreciate upcoming enlightenment. I will forward your interpretations to her and update her feedback.

I think you had a hard time partly because of the erroneous concept of a 'main mission in life'.

Basically this line can say it's simply too late to turn things around...that events must now take their course. I think Yi has leap frogged the question somewhat.....and is warning her about some attempt to recapture or regain something ?

I find Yi answers the real immediate question. If she wants to start over it's too late...and she would be better to recognise that.


I think going into past lives here would be just guesswork and is not advisable.



I think if I were doing the reading I'd try to explore where she was seeking to re gain something ? I don't know where she may be seeking that but I'm guessing her aging parents really are her main concern now ?

It may be if she left her job she would never be able to get another job of the same worth ?


It's a serious line saying 'look you don't have any more chances...don't go around acting like you can just start over again at any time'.

Without talking to her and how she feels about changes and how they relate to the line it would be hard to advise her.

What is lost now is lost for good and as it's her job she stands to lose I wonder if this is a warning not to leave ?


I don't know but I do know I definitely would not take this as the direct answer to the question as the question is a kind of fiction that she must have some main mission. People seem to get very attached to the idea of main purpose and mission.....and all that...whereas in reality life is a lot more like a spiral than a straight line. That is life is what happens while we are busy making other plans.

It's a sharp answer so somewhere here she needs a bit of a wake up call. I don't feel the answer is indulging such a broad question when she has more immediate concerns....regarding potential loss if she tries to 'start over'. In what sense she is thinking of starting over is something I don't know and I imagine you may have to talk a lot more to uncover where, and in what respect, she holds this idea that she can start over. She may not even know she has it.....but if it fuels her dissatisfaction with her job she might needs to get clear that actually if she quits there is no returning to that kind of lifestyle....or whatever it provides for her that she may be taking for granted.

Reading your interpretation, maybe I should ask her to look at life in a less "mission-oriented" perspective, and maybe ask a different question. Do you have a good suggestion what kind of question she can ask so she can get soe guidance to live a more fulfilling rest of her life? Thanks.

Yes I'd be inclined perhaps to get her to actually locate that sense of wanting to start all over again in herself first.....then perhaps ask a few more questions which are more specific.

Yi can be very realistic in ways our current society shields us from or asks us to deny. For me 24.6 says it is too late to start over, the time has passed, you may be too old or the problem is too far gone to address...you must let it pass away to begin again.

In practise this is not always so terrible, just factual. An extreme pretend example...might be that my mother, aged 84, decides to train for the local marathon and to 'get fit' in preparation. If she had 24.6 it would confirm that for her to set out to reverse time by attempting something she might have done 50 years ago is a disastrous idea. She will do herself harm in the attempt ! Far better that she takes her exercise in tending her garden....So if she had 24.6 over 'should I train for the marathon' she may be relieved that Yi tells her that ship has long sailed !


In modern society we are often made to think we can restart and restart...and yes life is an ongoing adventure...but it is a finite one. We have a lifespan..and often 24.6 can refer to awareness of our lifespan.

I don't know how old your client is but she might consider that her 'mission' if she is more than halfway through her life has already, in good part, been accomplished. I think living one's life is one's mission

I agree this is a hard one to interpret for her so perhaps she needs to ask some smaller questions about her next move and so on ?

Thanks for your input. It starts to make a lot of sense now. I will bring up the topic carefully with her, and prompt her to ask subsequent smaller questions.

I think she is between 50 and 55. She is not my client, she is one of the partners in a real estate project with me as tax expert. She knew I was studying IC and asked me to interpret the reading.

Consolidate all of your input, maybe IC is saying what she had accomplished significantly in this life. If she still ask IC what is her mission in life now, she is iplying what she has done so far is not part of the life mission, thus IC gave the answer of starting something new it is kind of late. Instead, she should be at the stage of nourishment (or cooking) of self and maybe elder parents.

Wow, this board is awesome. I studied IC by myself and internet for a few years, but just discussing with people on this board has advanced my IC appreciation way beyond what I was expecting. Thanks to you all.
