Well this maybe a daft question but I'm curious to know if others have a most disliked/most liked hexagram to receive. I said on another thread I don't like getting 19 despite the seeming positivity of it. Not rational at all of course, just a feeling, or maybe I just don't like to get hexagrams I have absolutely no handle on. 26 is another that leaves me disgruntled, read alot about it but still can't relate it to anything very much and 13 is very boring. Yet 5 I find most attractive
My guts settle when I receive 5 and I like 9 too. Sometimes my emotional reaction to a hexagram I receive blinds me I think to what it might be advising. I wondered if I was alone in this kind of response - well apparently not, Bruce hates 9,6 and Luis gets frustrated at 54.Which one do you loathe to get ? |

Hi Trojan,
Mine's 47. I don't like the whole thing of not being believed even when you're telling the truth or something that needs to be said. Plus LiSe's site has it as 'enclosed tree' - I always was claustrophobic ![]() P.S. I like 9 too. Kind of 'softly, softly, catchy monkey' ![]() |

Yes, I also like 9 those long and dull details always give a deeper clu in the end.
I like 23 in a bizar way, then I think yes I Have to let go now especially when I get 23 -6 then I can start again with something new. I don't like 27, then I think what have I done wrong this time? ![]() |

I didn't like 13, not at all. And then it turned out to be my birthhexagram. 13.5! Eek...
So I looked a bit better at it, and started to like it more and more. Now I love it, and it seems the same happens with all hexagrams I did not like. When I start to understand them, I also start to like them a lot. LiSe |

I threw 9.6 - 5 the last two days in a row. Even the weather agrees: sky of clouds and only a smattering of drizzle, everything is still. What I don't like about it is that there seems to be nothing I can do to change it. Some hexagrams offer a plan of action, or even a retreat to something rich inside, but with 9.6 all you can do is wait it out. Perseverance brings the woman (emotions) into danger, and willful persistence brings misfortune to the man (thoughts). Oh well, blame it on waxing moon.
Conversely, I like 19. It opens doors and gives a sense of purpose. Time to plant seeds. |

I've never liked receiving 21.6. Who likes being told they're not listening? But one that bugged me for ages last year was 62. Being asked to make a substantial transition in a small way, on small resources, hopping from one clod of earth to the next when I can't fly.
I expect that when I learn to like this one, I won't see quite so much of it. |

Well, a lot of them are not nice, but also some specific lines!
47 in general is bad but it usually talks about something that is only in my head, so I can deal with it. I am terrified of 52.3, althought that heart attack has not materialized yet And 4 sometimes thinks I'm being stupid and calls me names! And I don't like 23 either but I must have been through it thousands of times so I'm not afraid of it anymore... I used to like 31 and 24 and now I'm wary of them... 31 and it's tainted apple, 24 and having to turn back, or repent or something! oh well... And, unlike Bruce, I like the ones where I don't have to do anything , like 25.5, is it, the one of 'use no medicine'...I guess they can all be good or bad, depending... But I will give you 5 47's for that 19 of yours that you don't want ![]() |

I don't like 9 at all, reminds me of drizzle, too, and not being able to act ..like bruce. Ironically, though, I feel automatically exhausted when I get 7.. the whole image of an army and relentless, disciplined marching. yuck. when i get 15, i feel like I probably have a halo, but it's BORing.
conversely, I really love 26, the energy that you've built up is taking you somewhere. and 47 is always a relief because I like to be reminded to get over myself and to not make such a big hairy deal out of illusory problems...'get back to the garden' is one of my favorite images for that. |

This is a funny thread. We always talk about there being no “good” or “bad” hexagrams, and logically, in the big picture, that’s true. But it doesn’t mean we have to like them all. Funny how certain ones we liked at one time have earned less than desirable status after more time passes, and vv. It’s also interesting how they vary pretty widely for different people.
62 for me is a bit like 9, but the difference is that the time of 9 seems filled with tension (dense clouds, no rain from our western region), whereas 62 (for me) is a more relaxed and even somewhat mystical time. With 62 I can still be effective in accomplishing small tasks. In fact there’s almost a Zen like quality to 62, if I approach small tasks with a meditative “be here now” mindset. 9 makes me think of minding the chickens. What do I know about chickens! ![]() |

My least favourite hexagram at any given time is probably the one I keep on getting in reading after reading, even though I'm quite sure I got the message the first time, and will someone please tell the oracle to catch up? (Of course, if it's 62.3 that really doesn't help.)
Come to think of it, my favourite hexagram has to be 61. Even though I know from experience that it carries no guarantees about outcomes, it just acts like a powerful magnifying lens, I still love the imagery. |
