Hi Everyone,

So, this is my first shared reading. Time to jump in - hello, everyone.

The question is kind of funny, I guess; I'm scheduled to go in for a tonsilectomy in mid-March. Surgery just makes me nervous. And I've heard that this procedure can be really painful and difficult to undergo as an adult. (My doctor recommended it because I have cryptic tonsils, which causes strep, tonsil stones (ugh) etc.) So I asked what the outcome would be for the procedure. I asked this earlier, and got 58 unchanging, twice. The image ("someone with words rising from their mouth: they seem to be dancing and singing. It means joyful and outgoing expression that opens up communication") seemed applicable to the throat. Like someone happy to have their infected Raggedy Ann tonsils gone! Of course treading means having to be very careful, which I guess would mean doing everything possible to facilitate health and healing prior to the surgery (rest, lots of green vegetables, water, vitamins, being careful about not taking aspirin, ibuprofen or fish oil beforehand, since it causes thinning of the blood) but line 6 seemed like an auspicious line to get in relation to the question. What spoke to me more was getting 58 three times as far as the ultimate outcome, someone who is happy to open her mouth and talk because her throat isn't bothering her. :) As far as line 6 goes - cryptic tonsils are genetic apparently. That is the only allusion I could think of specifically in relation to that line, but I am new to this so I may be missing something there.

Determining right conduct

Hello Voltarine. Conduct (10) with a change in the 6th position advises you to look at what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. If it has worked, don't change it. If it hasn't then do. In regard to your question it appears you may have had problems with your throat in the past and these will be resolved. You will be glad (58) you made this decision. Good luck! I never had my tonsils out and suffered thru years of tonsillitis. If this procedure protects you from that, then you are very fortunate.

What will be the outcome for the procedure?
10.6 > 58

The surgery is a go. Dui as outcome is the trigram of the mouth and ease.

Hilary for 10.6:
‘Observing the footsteps, blessings from the ancestors.
They come full circle: good fortune from the source.’

The spirits are circling auspiciously, and the line is at the position of the head.

Thank you! Ichingtarot: yes, the throat stuff has been an ongoing problem, it's funny, the doctor said basically the same thing, "Well, you've tried this and this and this, and it hasn't worked, so let's go to plan C" which is the tonsilectomy. But it is not a minor surgery for an adult (or a kid for that matter. Though there is the Pavlovian reward of ice cream at the end). Pocossin: thanks as well! This is what I am missing as a newbie, these more subtle interpretations of individual lines, but this is very helpful. I believe it was Marie Louise von Franz who said the I Ching was the highest and most complex system of speaking with the Self or the Divine, whatever one wants to call it, but I believe it. And it is an incredibly poetic system too, one with an incredible sense of humor as well.

That button will mysteriously appear after you have made about 11 posts.
