I've been working for this organisation for three years now, on a part-time contract, as outsourcing, to be more precise.
It's been a really good cooperation, I loved the job, the money wasn't anything special but I had a lot of free time and the freedom to do other things as well. They've been really satisfied.
Now they're offering a full-time position but the conditions just do not work for me in any way: the working hours, the money, the organisational structure.. everything is much worse than with the part-time deal.
I have told them - in a nice, calm, reasonable manner - that I would rather keep things as they were BUT I got an idea that they are offended by my not being exhiliarated by the offer and there was a hint of threat in the conversation which led me to believe that it's "all or nothing": if I refuse the full-time offer, I can kiss the job goodbye.
Still, the offer is really crap.

I asked the IC what will happen if I refuse the offer, and got 13.1.3.4 to 20
That seems pretty clear.... I should look for another employer... Right?
Please help me, as I have to decide tomorrow....

Thank you.

Your rational mind seems to have decided the offer is not worth considering. Your gut seems against it too. How about trying to negotiate once more, try a different approach or organize your life to accommodate the job. You could possibly negotiate the hours you do per week. Explain that you have other engagements which you cannot drop. It appears your work is highly appreciated so they may not wish to let go of you ... even if their somewhat threatening.

Hope this response is not too late and that it helps, at least a bit.

Part Time to No Time

No matter what Yi says, don't take an offer than makes you unhappy.

Now with my employer hat on, I can tell you it is disconcerting when a part-timer that you value doesn't want to take a full time offer. So they may have a reaction, but that won't be the reason they fire you, because they are miffed.

If they have a full time job for the position now authorized, they will have to fill it. So if you won't take it, they will look for someone who will. This assumes it is a large company. A small company might act more rationally and try to work something out with you.

Although the overall theme of H13 is Fellowship with People, in Lines 3 and 4 the fellowship has been compromised by mistrust and different agendas. And in Line 1, the common interest you share is very thin.

So if this is a large company, they will find someone to fill their job, and you should start looking for another position.

hi,

13-> 22 it seams that finally you will hold your job...

a refuse from you of the new position will be viewed with suspicion.
expected are gray work days... they will keep still an eye on you and found you.

In the end ... the doubts and misunderstandings....will leave the situation. finally is to expect a reborn of serenity and harmony in your work ambient.

hope to help

Thanks, people! :)

It is a bit late in a way that I had to make up my mind this morning and - as themis hinted and Tiger straightforwardly put - I realized that, no matter what IC says, there's no point of doing a job that makes me unhappy.

Tiger: the company is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge and, yes, they must fill the place and they will fill it BUT even with that position filled there's a need for a few part-timers. That's clear all along. I am just afraid that, with my refusing the full-time job, they will be too angry to keep me as a part-timer despite the fact they'll still need someone.

themis: I did try that, actually, yes :) we're thinking in the same way. I "blamed it" on the professional development course I've taken up (I really am attending the thing but that's not the real reason I refused the offer). They seemed to see it as a valid reason but remained kind of offended.

patro: it's 13 to 20 not to 22. If it's a typo and your analysis goes for 20, I like it :) If not...

Thank you one more time!!
I really think that I would become pretty miserable had I taken the offer as it totally clashes with my overall plans.

We'll se, I'll let you know what happens.

Just to let you know what happened, as a point of reference, in case someone needs to compare the reading and the outcome.

So, they did employ someone else but they also decided to keep me as a part-timer. They're still confused regarding my decision but they've accepted it so the "serenity and harmony" that patro mentioned are reborn in the work environment.

Thank you for the help one more time. :)

thank you for updating the topic with the outcome.
this is a great help for understanding better the Yi.

sorry I missed where you ask about... and yes it was just a typo error... I rechecked the hexes to be sure ;)

finally they were just sure to hold you in a way in the company... they only hoped to get you as full timer.

the translated text from Italian for hex 20 is:
The ablution has been but the offer not yet.
so... as you know the ablution is the most important step to undertake before the religious ritual.
a decision/ablution was taken before they ask/ritual you about a full time position.
