With regard to a fledgling relationship, there are issues of distance and other variables...but the connection is strong and valuable regardless. We've spent quality time together and get on well and lovingly. We've talked some about ways around the obstacles; then there have been financial and family issues, along with our fears and insecurities (from past hurts) in the picture that, at times, sidetrack our progress. I would like to continue and make the bond stronger, despite the present obstacles. X asked me for patience and I have it; yet I want to travel the correct road for myself and for this.

Show me how to proceed now with X?
13.5>30

What is X's relationship to me now?
3.1>8

Is this a relationship deserving of my efforts?
17.3.5>55

13.5 looks like it speaks of the struggle to unite two whose hearts are united. And I need to stay with this and work through the obstacles somehow? In fellowship, with common goals and with clarity?

3.1 says that beginnings are difficult but that with proper allies, and by keeping the goal in site, things go well--leading to union, hex 8.

and
17.3.5 seems to speak about making mature and non superficial choices and choosing truth in excellence and sincerity for what really matters.
Could this mean I need to look at the choices I'm making in pursuing this, that they need to be "stepped up"...? Or is Yi advising that this is a good, sincere relation for me to pursue if I make mature, wise choices?

Can others please chime in with some possible illuminations for these readings here?

Thank you,
:bows:

efforts ? are you planning to climb mount Everest? or walk across Sahara desert ? maybe climb to the moon on a ladder?

you are making too many plans, think too much and miss the joy.

it's exactly the opposite. "little boys" don't make mature choices.
truth ? what's that?

Hi Gato,
Thank you for chiming in!
I do get what you are saying about thinking too much can make you lose the joy, and I agree with that. That is something I shall keep in mind, I think it will help in the long run. This is a long distance relation and it takes loads of patience--and also communication has sometimes been thwarted by both technical reasons and other things taking priorities. We don't get to talk nor see each other as often as I might like.

I am looking at these interpretations for 17 and the 3rd line:

--6 at 3: Related to the big man, losing the small child. By following one obtains what one seeks. Harvest: determination about settling.
Follow what you see as big and valuable, and do not regret the small you have to leave behind. Dedication will reach its destination and find its fulfillment.

--Six in the third place means:
If one clings to the strong man,
One loses the little boy.
Through following one finds what one seeks.
It furthers one to remain persevering.
When the right connection with distinguished people has been found, a certain loss naturally ensues. A man must part company with the inferior and superficial. But in his heart he will feel satisfied, because he will find what he seeks and needs for the development of his personality. The important thing is to remain firm. He must know what he wants and not be led astray by momentary inclinations.

Thanks again, it's always good to hear another person's viewpoint and it helps me see the Yi's counsel in a way that's fresh to my eyes.
Namaste.
