14.2.5>13 re new alliance

This is about getting to know a new person I've met; figuring out likes, dislikes, boundaries, expectations, etc. We are figuring what relationship to make. Sometimes it's been going well, sometimes, frankly for me it's been like '1 step forward, 2 steps back' ...so I asked:
Sometimes I don't feel I'm getting anywhere with X, advise please.
and got

So: to have the best fellowship and relating, it's necessary to be nice, sincere and sympathetic, but also to be firm when necessary, to not be taken advantage of. And to use the best of what you bring to the reality of the situation/you have helpers to go very far here.

Other ideas/thoughts on these lines or experience with these lines?

Line 14.5 show X that you are truly fond of them.

Awesome, WF, thank you, that's a very big help!
I am quite fond of X, more so every day and in more ways, and I'm happy to do as advised. I will have to think about how to "clean the car together" lol. I love how you cut through the standard answers with the specifics for the situation. Brilliant:bows:

I find updates so helpful on the site so I'm posting one to this thread:

The advice from the forum was:

I ended up letting X know how really fond I was of them, I was more open in general and more in tune with just enjoying fellowship and in relation to 14.2, I suggested we pursue a trip (a wagon for carrying big loads) we had been talking about as a way to spend some quality time together and bond. It ended up working and moving us forward.
