Hi Everybody,

In a situation where acting or not acting is a choice (not a requirement), while it is closely connected to (possible) professional advancement, I asked:
"Should I act, or not?".

Another background on this question: I've already done a great deal of work which can advance my professional desires, but in my kind of work, it's not always necessary to "go out and mingle" (also travel) in order to get something more afterwards. The work has already been done. "Acting" would be a plus, "not acting" wouldn't be a minus.

So, to resume, the question to you guys is: "Is 15 unchanging giving any advice on moving/not moving, or is this a completely personal choice in this hexagram?"

Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Eleven,

Hexagram 15 unchanging usually says to me: "Be more realistic."

Many thoughts go through our heads of things we might do. But many of these ideas are not even within the realm of possibility for some reason. Maybe there would have to be other people involved, and they would not go along with our plans. Maybe our physical stamina is not up to what we're thinking of doing.

Whatever it is, there is some sort of limiting factor that you have not taken into account.

15 > 15

Hexagram picture: The Cock (as in Blofeld 15.2).

The relevance of The Cock to modesty is obscure for non-poultry people. The cock scratches up good things to eat and calls hen and chicks to it without eating any of it himself. That is the modesty of the true leader. The leader supports the people.

Hilary got this hexagram years ago when she was starting Clarity. If your moving about is supportive of others then it accords with this hexagram.

Text:

15J:
Modesty creates success.
The superior man carries things through.

Will your action create opportunity for others?

15I:
Within the earth, a mountain:
The image of Modesty.
Thus the superior man reduces that which is too much,
And augments that which is too little.
He weighs things and makes them equal.

How can you equalize opportunity for others?

Dear Ginnie and Pocossin,

Thank you so much.
Both of your insights helped a lot.

Ginnie: there is indeed a limiting factor = money. The fact is - it is affordable, but also a luxury in the long run. This is exactly where my hesitation begins...Maybe there's another limitation though, that I now don't know of, so it's great that you put it that way...

Pocossin: Your view is also great, another perspective. The problem here (for me personally) is, I would only "act" if this was a two-way pleasure. So, it is good you asked those questions, because I will for sure create opportunity for others, and help them in the first place, but does that mean that being modest in this case means: "either go for it for the sake of helping others, or stay where you are?"

Also, maybe equalizing my needs with "their" needs explains this more deeply...

Anyway, thanks a million!

Let the Mountain Remain Beneath the Earth

I agree with Rosada.

Hexagram 15 with no moving lines reflects a need for moderation.

If you tried to give opportunities to others, maybe they wouldn't even be interested in that. Do you know they are interested in that?

A week ago I offered an opportunity for free instruction to a group I am affiliated with. This backfired and my intentions were not understood. My offer was greeted with hostility, and I'm still attempting to recover from this shocking turn of events.

I am sharing my experience with you because sometimes it is best if the Mountain remains hidden beneath the Earth, as the picture of hexagram 15 shows us.
