Just sharing my joy in the I Ching being literal again.

I decided to get the Buddhist monk who teaches my meditation classes some socks as a gift (for his birthday/Christmas) because I noticed his were holy.

I found some in his regulation colours -burgundy & yellow. But felt a bit self conscious because I’ve not been going that long & never given a gift before.

I asked about the offering.

Yi said: 2.5 to 8
Yellow lower garments; from the source good fortune.

Huh. I'm not sure what I'd do here! The reading seems to endorse it, but in real life that seems like a pretty personal gift to give someone like that. And wouldn't it be embarrassing for him, to know people see his holey socks?

There was a local Buddhist monk near me at a meditation centre and he spent a great deal of time in local charity shops, in his burgundy robes. He seemed transfixed by all the items in there. I don't think he'd have minded a pair of yellow socks. They're only human, monks I mean not socks.

He prostrates in front of us in his socks all the time so I don’t think he minds! I do feel okay about the gift & I love Yi’s response.
