I asked yi if I will meet someone new soon. I think it's saying this looks promising. Any insights are most welcome.

Hi

Here is some text i found on the line, line 5 and line 6 are very similar.

Editor: Psychologically interpreted, the fifth line represents an ego contemplating his multi-faceted psyche; here, the sixth line has risen above that standpoint to contemplate the nature of the whole reality with which it wishes to unite. Line five asks us to look within to see if the motivations of the psyche are in accordance with the goals of the Work; line six asks us to examine our comprehension of the individuation process itself to see if it is correct.

Individuation is a process of transformation whereby the personal and collective unconscious are brought into consciousness (e.g., by means of dreams, active imagination, or free association) to be assimilated into the whole personality. It is a completely natural process necessary for the integration of the psyche.

So the Yi is reflecting that you have started the process to make this a reality sub-conciously the process has begun, so in my experience that will eventually make this a reality.

In my studies the I Ching doesnt cast long range.

To echo, Steve, Contemplations top line refers to wise contemplation. The next hexagram Holding Together represents your loyalty to meeting someone new.

20.6 can also be advice to be objective and somewhat detached. I've received it once or twice when I've been upset at not understanding a reading - I think Yi was telling me to look at it as an uninvolved observer, almost as if it was someone else's reading.

How or if that might apply to your question, though, I have no idea.

[added] Well, maybe a thought...hexagram 8, the relating hexagram, is about choosing where or with whom you belong. Maybe Yi is counselling you to maintain some objectivity (20.6) when meeting people and deciding whether they are who you belong with. (I assume you're talking about a romantic relationship?)

You asked a yes/no question, but Yi can't say just "yes" or "no," so what it usually does is give advice or information beyond yes or no. (Usually it's better to ask a different form of the question.)

This answer sounds a little humorous to me, actually - Yi might be advising you to be picky! If you're trying to decide whether to date someone, be objective, maybe ask yourself how you'd feel if your best friend was dating them, or something like that. (Of course this is just guessing - it's your reading, so whatever seems right to you.)

¡Hola!
