What is the image of X being project manager of my new business? 22.1.2 > 18. There seems to be alot about superficiality and false appearances here though our relationship feels very down to earth and honest. ?? What worries me more is what it leads to, 18.

The partnership would start in 3 weeks and only go through August. X seems the best choice for the job but the reading is very complex and somewhat worrisome.

Does this project involve correcting some existing past serious issues and mess? Is your business of a 'corrective' and/or of a diplomatic human relations nature?

If not, then he doesn't sound good. He will be very slow, all appearance and no substance, and he will bring destruction to the project.

Diamanda, The business will be producing a physical project but we will be correcting the way it was done previous. The business itself is not in human relations but there will be alot of the 2 of us working together. My worry is more about 18 decay, and if that has more to do with the product being spoiled or the relationship??

I think Yi's saying to keep things simple as you work through the stagnation. 22's appearances may be false, but not necessarily so. 22 does not imply falseness, anymore than the way you comb your hair does. 22 can also imply natural beauty and flourishing of the 10,000 things.

If I were to apply a negative connotation to this, it would have more to do with how the plan and position this person is filling is going to help your bottom line.

I see hex 18 as the whole context, what gave rise to the question not what it all 'leads to'

its a good answer as it shows that you may be trying to rectify things in some way in taking him on. I also think it may show this person wishes to work hard perhaps to get good references, get back 'on track' in their career. That is a very good motivator for hard work and i feel hex 18 shows wish to work here. Also hex 18 may show him putting things right for your business particularly in terms of the image?PR of the business (hex 22) which may have been slipping ?

I think it likley your impression is correct and your relationship is very down to earth and honest. What you see is what you get here. I think 22.1 shows a willingness to do things in a steady realistic well paced manner. This person won't rush things but will follow things through one step at a time. 22.2 shows someone waiting for their hair to grow and thus signifies and kind of maturity one can't hurry along......growing up. Someone can be the most brilliant person in the world yet not grown up enough to handle things.....here my impression is the person may be quite eager for the job as good experience, you know something to put on their CV...or is it called 'resume' in US ? I think that would make a person a good employee.....someone who is eager to show they are getting experienced, I mean it motivates a person to work hard if they want to look good.

I don't find this cast worrying at all especially as it's a temporary post. Like I said i feel the person may be pretty well motivated to do well. And the more i think about it the more 22.2 looks like someone polishing up their reputation...just like a man may oil his hair to make it sleek looking and hoping it will make it grow.

Appearances are a big factor in anyone's work reputation.....s/he wants to look good (22.2) but is not someone who skips important details (22.1) Wanting to look good to impress others isn't wrong in the world of work is it, its natural so i don't think you need worry about superficiality and hex 18, the context, is all about putting things right.

Maybe he just had a period of unemployment or something like that so he's keen to pick his public work image up but that doesn't make him superficial IMO


What actually may be more relevant to the question asked is as said first of all is rather than seeing the reading about him personally I could see it as what he will do for the business.........he works at putting things right (hex 18) particularly in terms of the image/PR of the business (hex 22)

Sorry yawiney but no matter how much I'm trying to see this as a positive answer for your business, I just can't.

22 - good manners, "In small matters It is favorable to undertake something"
22.1 - walking on foot instead of taking a carriage
22.2 - a beautiful appearance
18 - corruption, decay

If indeed the person was good for correcting past mistakes, I would expect to see 18 as the first hexagram. With 18 being the resulting hexagram, I'd take it that this person will spoil the product. Not sure why you are worried about the relationship, are you in a relationship together (of a romantic nature), or would you like to be, or are you just worried about your business relationship?

At this point would be a bit awkward if i choose someone else but I have not committed. 18 being the resulting hexagram was what made me worry in the first place. Timing of readings is intriguing. I am still hoping that the resulting hexagram is more in the duration of the project at hand and not the end result. 18 as an end result does not seem good.
Any one out there have insight as to the timing of resulting hexagrams in general? The Ching has never steered me wrong so I want to heed it's guidence. I am still looking for clarity on where 18 will come into play.

Really, hexagram 18 or any second hexagram does not mean 'the future' and the future alone as a fixed prediction... so this is not leading to a hexagram 18 state, hexagram 18 shows the background, thie issues...all the stuff you are dealing with/s/he will be workling with.

If this person were really absolutely destined to 'spoil' things I'd expect to see a grimmer answer and this answer just isn't grim. Also this is a temporary post so i think it looks particularly good for that.

I guess you must use your own judgment and common sense ....it does count for alot.

"next door neighbor" - that gives a new meaning to the "walks" part. Someone very near to you, walking distance. And obviously you want to be polite with your next door neighbour. Maybe that also has something to do with the external grace of 22.2.

I know many members here do not see the resulting hexagram as "the future", however I'll note here that in my own practical experience that's exactly what an answer with changing lines shows, an initial situation and what situation this is evolving into.
