I've been feeling a lil funny lately.. And thought I would ask..
I'm a few days late on my period and was wondering... If I am pregnant.
I got 22.5>37

I have a job where I have to do a lot of strenuous work so I don't want to risk anything.

Well, that does keep your life simpler, like line 5. And your clan, your family, your senses, your health is still alive and intact.

This is an example of why yes-or-no questions are so often avoided when consulting the I Ching. The hexagrams can be interpreted either way.
Perhaps someday someone will start a thread for examples of instances where each hexagram meant yes and where it meant no.

If the I Ching was telling Megan NO in this response perhaps Megan is being told that the evidence of her being pregnant was very slim so perhaps she is now feeling a tad silly for even having asked about it. However, she is being reassured that her motives to find out as quickly as possible so as to not to risk a miscarriage were very commendable and that sort of a responsible attitude ultimately gives good fortune.

If the I Ching meant this hexagram to mean YES. then it seems to me it was saying it might have seemed to be a bad time for her to become pregnant but the I Ching was reassuring her that things would work out.

So you can see how a hexagram could mean yes or no.

To know which scenario was the better fit and thus which was the right answer would require quite a bit of inner clarity.

Maybe it's my lack of creativity, but I can't think of another way to ask about being pregnant or not without using a yes/no, other than asking for an image to show the state of the womb, and there, what's still being sought is an answer to, am I pregnant or not?

I must admit, this reading is a bit of a puzzlement to me as well, assuming Yi's answer was directly answering Megan's question, rather than something else that her mind was on; perhaps something grandiose or a sense of greater worth, and the Yi giving a soft, simple and beautiful image to be content in.

I just read LiSe's comments on 22.5.

Do what brings joy to you. Don't look with other people's eyes, don't look for profit. Maybe it seems as if you have little to offer, but in the long run you will be valuable for yourself as well as for others.

Either that or perhaps if she was feeling she needed to have a baby in order to feel like she and her partner were a real family and the I Ching is assuring her that she is enough just as she is?

The more I look at this answer the more it seems obvious the I Ching was saying "No." Ah, hindsight...

22.5 can be reassurance that you are enough, you have enough to offer. I have known it come up when secretly I thought I wasn't. Its a long shot but might it be you feel if you are pregnant you will have more to offer or something....it might be simply reassurance you don't need to be pregnant to be offering enough. I can imagine that scenario if one thought, subconsciously that you must provide a child to be enough, to be worthy, etc

before reading this post and , of course in hindsight , thought the same. Do I recall correct that meganj is pregnant nowadays ?

if yes... sorry for the very personal question , meganj, I can understand if you prefer not to answer but was wondering if hex 37 and woman perseverance here meant that you actually wanted to get pregnant and Yi says not this time but keep trying?

That's what I visualised on reading @meganj wasn't pregnant, but if I'd got this I would have definitely thought it was referring to a little oven-bun.

This is such an old thread, but I was thinking of another interpretation 22 is often associated with something looking beautiful but superficially.. And 37 is family.. could it be:

It 22= "it seems on the surface" that she is 37= "pregnant."

So the IChing maybe is just saying- I don't know but you seem to have pregnancy symptoms. Just a thought.
