24.2 > 19 (Troubled live-in friendship/relationship)

In response to the question: "At this point . . . Where is this relationship headed?" I received 24.2 > 19.

I have been providing a place to stay and care after my "friend's" recovery from a critical illness. The illness has relapsed. I am a healer and have been able to help in the past, but an emotional block has developed and my efforts to heal are sometimes rebuffed. What was once a beautiful, loving relationship is now sometimes uncomfortable.

Any feedback on this reading and the situation would be most welcome! One specific concern I have is that the text on 19 mentions misfortune in the eighth month.

I don't usually try to interpret for others, but I do feel the need to give back some of what I've been given here; and this is as good a place to start as any. What I'm telling you might be completely off the mark, and if so I apologize. I'm going to give you the "quick" reading and then give you change operators per Karcher. I haven't seen Karcher's method of finding change operators discussed much here, and I like it because it gives slightly more specific ideas about what to DO in a given situation. I'm allergic to "doing nothing." Anyway ... here we go. This will be sketchy, and may be completely off the mark, but I hope it may help some.

The quick reading I get of 24.2-->19 is that you need to grow where you find yourself now. That growth will come through acceptance of what is happening to you and your friend. I read growth through mourning. How ill is your friend, exactly? (FWIW, I consider growth through any sort of pain to be an utterly stupid prank played on humans by gods who have too much time on their hands. But I'm an atheist, so any opinion I hold about gods is purely hypothetical and completely irrelevant to my arguments.) Anyway, I get that your path is to grow by accepting and mourning what is happening to you and your friend.

Moving on to the change operators, which seem to me to offer slightly more concrete advice as distinct from theory ... the Yin/inner place of change is at 13, which is about creativity and the spring festivals. New growth, planting, lovemaking. This is the image to guide your insides right now. Your Yang/outer strategy is about war, visible displays of deadly power, and the disciplined ferocity that makes warriors brave enough to face death. Do not go gently into that good night? I hope that's not too depressing, or if it is, that it's way off.

Does anyone else use the change operators? Am I doing it correctly? I certainly can see why people might avoid them--they are time-consuming. They've made my daily navel-gazing session about 45 minutes long. 45 minutes might not seem like a long time to navel gaze, but I am a busy woman. Maybe I can cut it down to 30 minutes once I get the method down.

Don't be too concerned with the 8th Month (September) reference. It's referring to Gua 20, the Inverse of 19.
What this is saying is that 19 is the time to Do the work, 20 is the time to Survey the work done. You don't step back and observe while there's work to be jumped on.
19 is the Gua of the 12th Month, January

In my experience 19 often refers to a kind of love or sympathy that is 'Neptunian', in astrological terms. There is a higher vibration in it, it's not physical, not completely of this earth, it's more or less selfless and may involve self sacrifice. In some cases 19 refers literally to a love or a bond that is not physical because the loved one is not within reach or not even on the planet.
So 19 seems to reflect your situation quite well.
With Neptunian influences there is always the possibility of getting out of touch with earthly reality and especially with ones own earthly needs, limitations and pleasures. I think that 24 in this case hints at a return to your earthly self.
It looks like you have neglected it (which is very understandable in this situation), hence your discomfort and the block that you experience. You can probably trace it to a block in the lower chakra's, especially the second (the second line). I guess that you have become a bit too angelic and that it's time for some good old fashioned earthly fun.

Thank you for your insights . . . you've each touched on aspects of the situation that I need to look at. By the way, Calumet, my friend is VERY ill . . . it could turn into a life-and-death matter, as it was earlier this year. The issue of mourning is valid in this case.

I very much appreciate your assistance. This has become an extremely distressing situation for me.
