This agency is really in the doldrums (and has been for years) because of inept leadership. The Yi has constantly said that the wrong people are in the places of power. Well, now a strong new female is leading as President and ever since she's come in, havoc is being wreaked. In her attempts to set things right -- she's been arranging for anonymous questionnaires to be circulated among the employees of this Direct Marketing division of the agency and questioning us about how glad we are to be here, etc. The results are out (and I seem to be the only one who speaks up openly) and we are way below average. My own boss- Creative Director was at my throat again yesterday and once again I rebelled. But she can't fire me because taklent is so hard to find especially where direct mail writing is concerned. And despite er constant bullying and threats I have been here two years (I was in this agency before for all of 7 years and had left because I had been unhappy with her behaviour, but then she called me back).

When I asked the Yi if I were likely to lose my job here I got hexagram 25 changing to 28. I think lines 1,2,3 and 6. I gather tis means that I must act in the right manner no matter what happens and not plot or scheme and wait for things to change. 28 to me implies that the structure is weak and somwething must change. I don't think I will lose my job here but maybe I'll need to stand alone and speak up if called upon to.

By the way as I write, I just got to know of a job opening in Dubai for copywriter on IBM in a good multinational agency. Lot of money, but is it worth the uprooting? Is it necessary right now?

Any insights?

I feel it says be innocently aware of your surroundings, more observant of the nature of people, like a child soaking it all in only to forget it all at the bottom of the sandbox. To always impose your opinion on the situation takes away from the natural flow of things. It may seem that things need you to correct them, and that may be true but; allow the universe to inform you of the time to react. Let the humans live out there nature. The changing lines in 25 speak heavily of not allowing human laws of right and wrong affect our true human nature. You are in no immediate danger as long as you can keep yourself physically and mentally healthy. As mentioned by one of the other Chingers "dispassionate" might be a better approach to you situation. The idea of the new job is a whole other story.
It seems the Yi says that things may get worse where you are currently employed, but; as we all know, for things to get better sometimes they need to "go down", or get worse. It is the passion we have for humanity that gets us so riled up. I'm not saying don?t care about people, but to be dispassionate at times will allow us to check our own responses to others, seeing that we give ourselves that neutral point to start from.

Thanks Dandy, that makes a lot of sense to me. Dubai is anyway out of the question since I need to be near the templem in order to cultivate myself spiritually to the maximum and this year is really critical in terms of world disaster and thus the need to do so.

Please keep us posted as to how this works out.

I am going to go out on a limb here, and make a little unconventional rendering of this reading, but I am certainly not guaranteeing my results. I am going to go by the ruling lines of hexagram 25. By Master Huang's rules, when there are four moving lines, the upper of the two non moving lines is to be chosen. So I am going by that one and also number one as the two governing rulers of the hexagram. Line five as the ruler of the entire hexagram relates to the ruler, or in this case likely the new female president. Line 1 refers to the employees in general. Line 5, the president is trying to deal with a situation that is not her own fault. The fault lies in the policies of her predecessor. She is trying to remedy the situation by means that are somewhat unconventional. If she would quietly go about instituting her own new policies she may be better off and not arouse the suspicions of the employees. There may also be some advice for you here too Anita, in the sense that the situation itself is not your fault, and there is no need to contrive means to correct that situation, especially if it arouses the suspicions of your immediate supervisors, (and I am not saying for sure that I understand the situation that well), Hexagram 25 is about not contriving, but acting only from the impulses of our own hearts. On the basis of line one, I don't think you will be fired, think being the key word. I am certainly not sure...but if you say what is on your mind without any underlying motives then I think the situation will work out positively.

Something just came to me as I was reading line two and three, which may or may not resonate with you and/or the situation....Six in the second place could be your immediate boss. If you are not contriving and plotting in this situation, is it possible that your immediate supervisor is...? Perhaps she is looking out for her own interests and contriving as to how to place any blame on you? The third line is the place of danger in many hexagrams. Often the third line shows trouble from following too closely the overall meaning of the hexagram. Sometimes the sixth line does too. But if the second line refers to your immediate supervisor, the, as the Wilhelm Baynes version indicates, there may be someone doing something with an eye to the end results rather than the task itself. In other words, plotting.

Hexagram 28 shows the situation has deteriorated to the point where the company needs bracing in one sense or another. Unfortunately, managers concern themselves with bracing the company even if it means letting employees go. However, in this hexagram, I view it as an admonishment to let things be and just do the task that is set out for you without an eye to the results. I am not seeing firing in this, however, I could be wrong. These may be things to think about though.

Once again, keep us posted as to the situation.

Gene,

Yesterday I heard the Big Boss - new female President, telling my immediate boss to move her ass to Mumbai where work must be done. So all is not going to be too good for her! In fact some time ago she'd complained that she was being asked to move there but didn't want to. Well, there'll certainly be less tension here when she spends most of her time (if not all) there.

Meanwhile I don't think in her position she can place the blame on any of those under her. Besides I'm pretty blameless here. And do good work fast.

Thanks Gene. I'll let you know as things progress.

Maybe that is what bothers her. She can't find anything to complain about. ha ha.

Hi Anita and Gene,

Not much to add here, but I think your overall council is wrapped in 25:2.

"If one does not count on the harvest while plowing, nor on the use of the ground while clearing it, it furthers one to undertake something.

We should do every task for its own sake as time and place demand and not with an eye to the result. Then each task turns out well, and anything we undertake succeeds."

How could there be blame in this?

Thanks Candid,

Indeed 25 is where it's at even today when I asked how to deal with this relationship -- I got a line that said if I don't interfere the problem will resolve itself naturally changing to 40, release from tension. Hmmmm maybe she'll have to start spending a lot of time in the Mumbai office!
