Hi folks,

I am following up on a series of questions I've asked over the past month or so. If you remember me, you may remember that I'm trying to repair a breach with someone I think is quite special. I sent a letter of apology this past week (real snail mail!) and today asked the IC about it. I'm not sure I've asked the right question, but here it is:

"How has my letter been received by X?" Got 28.4.5 to 46.

Does this mean that he accepts my apology? This is the first time I've gotten these hexagrams and lines 4 and 5 seem to conflict with one another.

Any help?

PS--also posting a question about my mother and me. I think I get that one, but I'd love any feed back on it, too! Thanks to all!

Also...perhaps the more salient point of my question is this: does my question reflect what the Yi wants me to know about my letter's effect upon me, or the effect of the letter upon the recipient? Is there any point in asking about another person's responses? Or should I ask questions only about myself and my actions?

I'm looking for personal growth and a bit of affirmation from the Universe, and would prefer not to nurture neurosis! ;-)

I think I found some help!

Rosada posted this interpretation in another thread, and I felt it helped me understand the seeming contradiction of lines 4 and 5.

(In my letter I explained how I had misinterpreted some information that 'allowed' me to violate my friend's personal boundaries. I apologized and said I that even if the information had been true, I knew better than to do what I did.)

Rosada...

28.4 Another Yang line, but now in a much better position, suggests wisdom coming from advisers. It's as if the unconcious which could not comunicate in line 3 now appears in outer world garb. The truth will out. Thus problems one originally found overwhelming seem to be slowly finding their own solutions. This sence of problems being solved creates a tremendeous sence of joyousness and relief manefesting in...

28.5 A Yang line in this power position. Great joy from experiencing in 28.4 that all problems can be solved - is this what all the "nothing that does not benefit" has been about? When all problems are seen to be solvable, then virtually, there are no problems. Yet there are still obligations to be fulfilled and to ignor them thinking "well, the problem can be solved so now that I know what to do I'll relax, figuring eventually I will do it..." would be unproductive, even shameful.

"How has my letter been received by X?" Got 28.4.5 to 46.

It has received but still feels put out by your previous actions so no reconciliation is on the books.

a clarification

Well, I have gotten a polite, but upbeat response from him after I emailed to say the letter was on the way.

I don't expect anything dramatic from this letter. If he responds, it won't be soon as he's grinding through work responsibilities for a few weeks yet before he's got time to address anything personal. He's a cautious Cap/Taurus type, anyway, so I expect he'll take his time to respond, if he does at all. I simply felt the apology was the right thing to offer him.

What I'm most curious about are lines 4 and 5 coming up on the same reading. Seems a contradiction. How do you all interpret this?

Hi Philish,

I see 28.4 as saying: "It's a good idea to do the right thing, but it's no longer the right thing if you have selfish hidden motives." 28.5 says, "Doing the right thing later than usual can still bring about a positive result." Putting these together for your letter, I take this to mean: Did you have a sincere heart? Did you already do the right thing? If so, don't worry if a positive result takes a while.

Thanks to both of you for looking at this reading.

However the outcome, I truly believe that doing "the right thing" is better than allowing a transgression to go unacknowledged. The Universe works better that way. Soul is satisfied, even if Ego is a bit bruised!
