Namaste, Friends....

After a long time being away from Hilary's Place I once again come up with a question.

My situation:

After quite some time of living in Nepal :bows: and working in the field of development assistance , I decided to go back home to Austria and reset my life, so to say. I am a male nurse by profession and got the proposal to work in a rehabilitation clinic in the westernmost part of my country, close to the border to Switzerland (I am from Vienna, in Austrias "Far East"), which means I will work for a month, then fly back home for three or four days and then come back for another month of work. I am pretty comfortable with that arrangement, I get an appartment for free, and the rehabilitation clinic is located in a village which is a tourist destination - even Hemingway was there ;) - right smack in the middle of the Alps, close to mountains and nature, which I love.

On the other hand they speak a dialect which is almost a seperate language (it's very close to Schwytzerdütsch or Swiss "German" which IS a language in it's own right).

And some people say that the mentality of folk there would be a little bit different from the one in my hometown and certainly from the one in Nepal insofar as they would tend to be more conservative, strict and exact.

I was away from this field of work for around seven years or so, and I imagine it will not be that easy to re-connect with this kind of work again. :bag:

So I asked the Yi about what I should be aware of in this new surroundings and it gave me:

30 (Clarity), 3.6 to
51 (Thunder)

"Look, listen, learn" may be the meaning of 30 here. I will have to attain and sustain a high level of concentration, but compared to when I was 20 my brain feels sluggish. So I am worried, I have to say.

Line three: Lamenting about old age... I will be 50 next year, and for the first time in my life I start to feel it. New beginnings are not that easy anymore... It already started in Nepal when I figured out that the very low level of comfort there isn't doing me any good, healthwise. The earthquake, which I survived by pure chance (others I knew didn't had the luck :() was kind of a wake-up-call that at my age I should probably seek safer surroundings. It held a lot of other meanings, too, but this would lead too far.

Line six doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

And 51: PLEASE not another earthquake! OK, I was just kidding. I gather I should be very centered like the eye of a storm. Things could turn out to be quite hectic and life could be full of new impressions and perhaps I could jump in a nervous and hectic state, which I should avoid at all costs.

That's roughly what I make of the reading. But I am pretty sure I might miss out on something. Any ideas?

Each input would be most welcome and appreciated.

Hi and Welcome back,

I can relate with what you said about getting older; had a conversation about that very same subject this morning with a friend, as I'm close too to 50. It's a new environment and I guess the apprehension is due to age and not about having the skills to succeed in you new work. Perhaps this is the ringleader of 30.6 , the one you somehow need to isolate and insulated other thoughts from his influence. 30.3 provides a way to deal with it.

I find it harder to do things as I have not the same stamina as when I was younger, and also worried me that concentration is not that easy as in the past , like you but the good thing is that slowly slowly I'm learning some more wise use of resources, an another kind of economy on things, thoughts etc. Those repeated shocks it's a good exercise to find your center and train to keep it.

I wouldn't worry much about the actual job or new people. Try to enjoy this new environment and job. I got 30.3 when I was pondering on quiting drawing lessons when I realized I couldnt draw without my eyeglasses ,a consequence of getting older but this line made me think that I couldn't give up my freedom to my derotiated eyesight and the joy that hobby gives me.

Good luck

What I should be aware of in this new surroundings? 30.3.6 → 51

I think it describes the patients you will have to work with, young and old that have lost their belief in life (30.3) and are more conservative yes. You will have to adjust to that.

Your task will be to re-inspire them (30.6), give them a jolt of new energy (51).

Wonderful advice, anemos and ashteroid. :) Thank you.

It's very interesting, yes, astheroid. It's about the patients as well, this rings true to me. I was a little self-centered and didn't think about the patients who are, at the end of the day, the ones for which this is all about. Very empowering interpretation.

Together with anemos' interpretation it once more shows on how many levels life in the inner and outer life works and how deeply they are mutually connected.

In a way I serve as a mirror to them and vice versa. And there seems to be a way in which both of us can mutually encourage, help and support each other. Nursing is not a one-way road.
