Hi Everyone - this is my first post. I live in Western Europe and practice with I Ching for several years, slowly growing my knowledge about this wonderful bridge between the universe and us. Here's my question and a quote for advice:I asked whether I should invite a woman who is one of my coworkers to a party and escalate sexually (we are both attracted towards each other, but we are working closely - in a physical proximity, that is - so I know this is not a best idea, so I wasn't doing anything so far) - I asked the oracle about this, and got Hexagram 34 - unchanging. After checking out http://www.jamesdekorne.com/GBCh/hex34.htm looks like I should abstain from this, as: "Without changing lines, the hexagram sometimes refers to provocations in which one is "legitimately” tempted to a self-righteous display of "power.” Remember that other people's ego-trips are none of your concern: the superior man does not respond to them with other than dignified reserve. Regard it as a test and be joyful if you pass it!"" It is too easy to misinterpret this hexagram as a clear injunction to take unilateral action. Such is seldom the case -- the hexagram depicts a charge of latent energy which must be properly managed."But I am still tempted! Please do advice - only on this hexagram meaning when unchanged.

I don't think you should let this commentary deter you

It's just a commentary, it's not the words of the I Ching and the stuff about the 'ego' and 'self righteous displays of power' well it's just one person's interpretation

I think that which you quoted is trying to convey is that vigour alone here does need tempering with adherence to rituals as in the proper course of action, as the Image says (which you can read in the 34uc thread I linked to), but that really does not add up to not asking the woman to the party or not trying to move things on with her sexually. I think you certainly can go ahead and ask her and try to move forward with her but just take care not to be too forceful in your advances, observe the protocol so to speak, don't do anything she might regard as vulgar or improper or pushy.

I think it is a very encouraging reading, very virile and powerful, the only thing to bear in mind is to proceed with due decorum, nothing clumsy or sudden or inconsiderate. In other words I think the answer encourages you to go ahead with her but do be sure to act like a perfect gentleman and stay within the accepted rules of courtship and so on whatever they are in your environment. I'm sure you will charm her all the more by just holding your impulses slightly in check.

The reason one is being advised to stay within the accepted ways of going ahead with her is I think that your own impulses to her are very strong, very powerful and this might cause you to over step the mark in some way. But if you take care to be gentlemanly things should go well i hope.

Hi, many thanks for your answer. I agree, I am somehow massively attracted to her, [if you're into zodiac she's pisces and I'm scorpio, so mutual metaphysical connection can be felt, if you're not thenI can say the sexual attraction is there for sure from both sides] but the main warning for me is that I cannot be sure how she will react if anything will happen - as we are working literally 100cm from each other. but you're right, there's probably nothing bad in inviting her out either. is there anything else you or anyone want to add?I am really grateful for your answer

...only to say if you are working so closely each day it's important you don't jeopardize the working relationship if you come on too strong, which 34 can warn of. This doesn't mean you cannot proceed but do be mindful of the long term effects if things were to go wrong between you. I'd suggest you be clear in your intentions and so on, go ahead and woo her but leave her enough space to withdraw if she wants to.

Keep in mind if things go wrong between you it will hard to work together at such close quarters.
