36UC - what should I caution against?

I’m going to a party tonight and I asked
“What should I caution against tonight?”
I received 36 unchanging.

I take that to mean, by way of the question I asked, to NOT HIDE MY LIGHT. To go ahead shine.

Is this a correct intrepretarion of the answer ?

I think the I Ching is saying you should caution against trying to be the life of the party. Do you have a copy of Wilhelm's translation? In the Image for 36 he gives very specific advice for how to behave in such a situation as you describe:

Behave yourself. Don't act in a way that is inconsiderate.
Do not fall in with negative practices of others - like drinking too much I suppose - but also don't criticize their behavior.
Don't try to be all knowing.
Let many things pass, without being duped.

As an update - I found out that the person I was going with may not be able to go now. I guess that fits too ....

Well this is one for the books for sure.

Real life update.
So we did end up at the event. He got there a little late. But that’s not where 36UC comes in….. little did I know I was in for a shocker…. He told me his ex girlfriend was pregnant. He just found out and that’s why he was late. Talk about brightness hiding. I could not react. Well, I could have but it would not have been beneficial. Thanks goodness I have grown and become self-aware enough to know that this situation was something that I needed to have an introspection period on before revealing my self.

Even more interesting to build in this - I had also asked, after receiving Hex 36, how should I transact myself tonight. I received 12.2>6. Wowzers!!!

Wow! Thank you for updating. Do you mean his ex is pregnant with his child? Or just pregnant in general?
