After going into debt trying to sell and not selling my home i got a good renter in to help with my mortgage and got approved for a loan against my house so i could take care of some things. The loan Co. requires i keep the home as my primary residence until i sell, but i was planning to leave and travel for work for a year or more. They are an online company with no one coming to check and i would be doing walk throughs every 3 months.

I asked Yi, How would it affect my life, the land and x, (my renter), to move forward with the loan: 4.6> 7.

The part in line 6 about preventing the violation in some interpretations and not being punished for the violation in others leads me to wonder which it is.
And also to think about the reading being obscured due to asking too many times since:
1. i asked about upping the amount of the loan recently- 39.1.5 > 36 which was an obvious NO.
2. In early December I asked Yi: "How would keeping my house and borrowing from X(loan Co.) instead of re-listing affect my life and got 32.6 >50 which i'm still unsure of how to interpret.
I was really excited to get this $ but after this reading my feeling is that somehow they would find out i'm there less than half the time?
It also seems like 7 is saying if i do it i need to be really well organized.
Is my feeling/thinkin on this correct here?
Thanks for any guidance on this one.

hex 4: there is immaturity in this situation - do what you can to ripen things fruitfully.
4.6 - Not advantageous to act like an outlaw; advantageous to resist acting like an outlaw. Correct the error.
hex7: to get to the organised place there may be disputes. bring people on board who can help you through this.

Good Luck

Hexagram 4 is about learning new things and line 6 suggests a need to simplify and focus like it’s asking, “What part of primary residence don’t you understand?”
Have you asked the company just what the requirements are for this house to continue to be considered your primary residence? For example, would it qualify as your primary residence if you .got a room mate/house sitter to keep an eye on things when you go on extended vacations?

For tax purposes I think you have to live in a house for three months out of the year for you to be able to file as a resident of that state so I’m thinking there may be some similar rule that would apply for claiming a house is your primary res. Like you might have to come back every x number of months and sleep over night for two consecutive nights or something. Hex 7 is about getting organized so worth investigating.

Yeah I think Hex 7 suggests i consult a real-estate attorney before moving forward in my situation. The definition the company gives for primary residence is more than i plan on being here. They say 180 days of the year. and not gone for more than 2 consecutive months. What i really am interested in is wether line 6 is saying they will find out if i am not there enough somehow? Or if i should just set up some safeguards. Financially this loan would work out really good for my situation but it could be disastrous if they somehow found i'd been gone for 3/4 of the yr. After reading more on line 6 i'm leaning toward not taking it and letting go of the dream i would be creating with the extra flow.

Staying inside the law sounds a good plan.

Adding on one of your readings:

2. In early December I asked Yi: "How would keeping my house and borrowing from X(loan Co.) instead of re-listing affect my life and got 32.6 >50 which i'm still unsure of how to interpret.
Constant stress, so much that it will affect you physically. You'll need a different solution eventually.

Thanks Diamanda. It has affected me physically. Now that i have a solid renter i see a way out of the stress.
Originally, when i did that reading, the loan $ was going to be for turning my garage into a unit for me to live in and be a lot of work. And mean me staying here.
Now that i've rented the whole property for much more than i would have gotten if i stayed here still using facilities in the house, the $ from the loan would go toward infrastructure on my raw land in HI. Much more inspiring to me. And, i think, less stressful. Although, the restriction on the loan might worry me for the first year or 2 while i'm not here full time.

If it didn't cost so much i wouldn't question going to the attorney for advice but it's like 900$ for a good real estate attorney to read 72 pages of docs from the loan company. Yikes!
@ My_key - That does seem to speak pretty clearly to my question about line 6. thank you.

Just want to talk a little more about the meaning of 4.6.
Along with the interpretation, "advantageous to resist acting like an outlaw," Wilhelm comments that in order to keep the fool from acting like an outlaw it is appropriate to eliminate the temptation. Like, don't worry about getting caught violating the contract, don't sign such a contract to begin with.

But while 4.6 advises recognizing from the get go that you are absolutely not going to do anything shady, it doesn't say don't get the loan. I mean, it says you must eliminate wrong temptations so you can more clearly see what is your correct path, but perhaps there is a way you could qualify without having to be sneaky? But from what you've said in this case probably not. Perhaps ask the I Ching if there is another way? Anyhow, I'm just wanting to say for the record that 4.6 doesn't necessarily mean abandon a goal, it just means don't break any rules to get there.

Thanks Rosada.
I talked to them about a clause that would allow an owner to rent out the property with written permission from them and they said they never actually have done that and that they won't.
it's possible that facing losing a customer, (me), they might allow for a special circumstance. Worth a try anyway.

Hello 🙂

I am interested in knowing how you went along with it.
Did you get the loan? Do you see 4.6 more clearly now?
