Hello,

I heard a rumor today that a co-worker might be leaving and if that's true, it could effect my position quite a bit.

First I asked, Is X planning to leave our company soon?
40.2.3.5.6>13

What is an accurate picture of my work situation?
17.3.4.6>37

If X leaves, how will it effect my position?
35.1.2>38

Any help, much appreciated.

The rumor has now been confirmed and everything--not just the Yi, but also common sense--says act receptively, not proactively, in terms of asking for more money or being defensive about what I'll take on...don't "tell"...rather, wait and see before overreacting. (2>12, 62>5).

Here is the problem: My job is important to me, but the main reason it's important is that it allows me to pursue my real passion, writing, which I do when I'm not at work. So my job is important, but only as a means to an ends. Right now, everything is fine--I have just enough work to be stimulated; not enough to force me to think about it post 5pm...which I NEVER want to have to do on any kind of regular basis.

Not only will some of X's work be transferred to my platter, but a good deal of X's work is a)beyond me (technical) and b)extremely, err...unattractive...doesn't use my skills, but would actually force me to use my lack thereof. Everyone seems to like me at work and I don't think they will expect me to know everything overnight, but that is not really my cause for worry. My worry is about time consumption. I don't want to spend more time than I do at work, but it's not exactly easy to set limits when you're in a subordinate position.

Today I asked how X's leaving would benefit or hinder me and I got 51.1.3.6>35.

To me this says, yes he's leaving, quite the surprise ain't it, just be calm and the transition will go ok. But what is line 6 all about? There seems to be a warning in it?

Basically, throughout all these castings, my main concern has simply been, Will my writing time be jeapordized by X leaving? The answer 35.2.5>6.

I'm getting a lot of 35s about this work issue, and I think I'm happy about it, but the relating hexagrams (38, 6, 12) make me anxious. Is it just that inside I am having this minor anxiety attack and it is showing up as part of the external action?

Does anyone see me coming through this with more money and less work? If so, give me your number, let's get married:eek:

Isn't this obvious, being deliver out into the world, leaving.

Today I asked how X's leaving would benefit or hinder me and I got 51.1.3.6>35.

It will benefit you as long as you don't get involved with anything that is not your business.

Will my writing time be jeopardized by X leaving? The answer 35.2.5>6.

There maybe some minor alterations that could possibly have an effect on your time but don't fight it look for a compromise.

Thank you for taking the time to answer that. I can see how it would strike as not the most important or difficult reading, but I am at a crossroads with the I Ching in that up until this point, my castings have been on a spiritual or mental level, without a chance to actually see them pan out in the physical world as of yet. "What's X thinking?" "Where's X going?"--confirmation of those kind of answers often takes patience and time. Here I had something happening in the now, so I thought it would be a good way of building confidence in the answers given to me by the Yi. I thought 40>13 surely meant yes, he is leaving, but to tell you the truth I'm such a beginner that I still need a second (and hopefully much more expert) opinion. Thanks for providing one.
