42 and Industry Choice

Hello again after a hiatus! Hoping for some clarity from the many wise folks here at Clarity. I can’t see these answers clearly because I am willing one to be favorable.

What if I pivot into that industry? 38.2.4.5>42
What if I remain in my current industry? 49.3.4.6>42

Post covid I had to make some professional changes and ended up in a new industry. There’s potential here, but I’m curious about another industry that I think would suit my temperament better.

Is there more opportunity in my current industry based on the responses?

Yes, it’s one of those times I like to think everything is a blessing of increase. Then there is that thought of 42 being putting in lots of effort to make something come to pass. I prefer the “favorable” interpretation here, I admit.

Since you do not further describe the industry you work in, what exactly your job is and why you are thinking of switching, below are just a few things that stand out for me in your answers.
1. the related hexagram in both cases is H42
2. H38 and H49 both consist of the trigrams Fire and Lake
3. the moving lines in both H38 and H49 together form trigram Lake which turns into Mountain

As mentioned, H38 and H49 both consist of trigram Fire and Lake, in other words fire and water.
Both H38 and H49 show the aspect of water and fire in a sense that there is some form of struggle and/or friction in both. In H38, the friction persists and can last a long time; in H49, the friction creates an innovation, which is revolution. In a revolution, the old has to be removed so that something new can emerge.
So you could see H38 <> H42 as Increase of Opposition and H49 <> H42 as Increase due to Revolution.

Moving lines
Trigram Lake turns into Mountain. Lake out of balance is immature, it likes to keep things easy and enjoyable regardless of the consequences. It can lose touch with reality and not see what is really going on. It is wishful thinking without ever making it a reality.
Mountain advises to put an end to that, to be solid, to provide a firm foundation. It is also the trigram of looking back, contemplating and evaluating after which a new start can be made.

Interestingly, H42's Image text says something along the same lines.

I am curious to know what the reason for wanting to change direction is. What are you missing in your current working conditions that you think you will find in the new direction?

Thank you for the thorough answer. It gets into something I was suspecting that possibly both options would require a lot of effort and increased output.

Without being too specific, my current industry is strictly business. Deals, budgets, acronyms, assets, accounting, etc. My strength is in people management and relationships and my personal interests are more creative. I would like to be a more creative field, even if I'm the business aspect.

The relationship aspect of my current industry is why I am doing well, but the actual work is very tedious to me.

According to H49<>H42, your current industry gives that possibility.
The trigrams in H49 are positioned in such a way (trigram Fire below and Lake above.) that they produce innovation or something new (think of it like fire under of water, after sometime it produces steam that can set things in motion). It is the passion for something (Fire) expressed in communication/interaction with others ( Lake).
The moving lines show the process. Initial difficulties and a slow start in the beginning, but eventual success.
