So I asked the Iching "Who is the ghost at Ada's?"

And this is what I got.

What happened was, I went with her to her father's house, her childhood home to help her while she helped her dad who has recently been diagnosed with ALS to get ready for a trip to his childhood home. One morning, about 6:30 or so in the morning I hear, "Oh, I just came in to check on you, (a giggle) and more conversation that at the moment I don't remember. Didn't think a thing about it because I thought another relative had come in to check on her elderly father who was downstairs sleeping. Later, I asked her, did you stop by earlier... and she says, no, it wasn't me. And Ada says immediately, yeah, my son hears it too. Now, I'm familiar with ghosts, but honestly, I have NEVER heard something so clear. So, a little freaked, I asked Ada to sleep upstairs the next night in the big double room. So she and her daughter did. Next morning about the same time we both were awoken with Bang, bang, bang on the door. Ada, thinking her father had climbed the stairs and needed her jumped up and opened the door. Nothing and nobody was there. He was still asleep downstairs.

Later, when we got home from the trip I asked her son about what he heard and he said, no, I didn't hear anything. I was upstairs on the third floor when someone put a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and noone was there. He said, noone believed him at the time that it had happened.

After that, there wasn't anything more. (Thank gawd) We were there 4 nights. Would anybody like to tell me what they think the Iching is trying to say?

Hello ScorpioC!
I've seen that your post didn't receive any replies yet (just like mine) and so I thought I'll give it a try (despite the fact I have not much experience with interpreting the IChing).
Anyway, this is definitely an interesting story!

So your question was "Who is the ghost?"
The simple answer (my interpretation): the IChing does not know. Maybe because the energy you have been experiencing defers personhood so asking for "Who" does not make sense, maybe because it simply does not know. (Which would lead to another interesting question or discussion: Does the IChing only know what we know? It is not all knowing, isn't it?)

But - the way I interpret the lines - some advice is given how to deal with the situation. The whole hexagram is about determination and determined decisions. The first line is advising not to come to a decision too quickly. Maybe: don't judge your experiences, just observe. The second line tells you, though you might feel you need to arm yourself against some kind of attack in the middle of the night, there is no real danger. So just stay calm. There's nothing to be afraid of.
Line 5 finally gives the advice that it is upon you to decide what to do with this experience but you should walk a middle path - so maybe have respect that there might be some energies at work that you cannot interpret but don't overreact.
The relating hexagram is 62, Small Exceeding. To me this means the enegies you've been experiencing are beyond your sphere of influence, so just stay low, adapt to it in small ways but don't take any vigorous measures. Stay calm and accept it.

That would be my take on it. Let me know if it makes sense to you.
