A question about a friend of mine resulted in this dark set that hasn't come up on the forums yet. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

About a friend?
47.2.4.5.6 > 23

The casting is dark depending on perspective. The hexagrams represents the phases of life, so none of them are dark for a complete life. The casting suggests that sacrifices will need to be made before the relationship progresses. Call it a period of adjustment.

Yes, okay, thank you. I see it as turning inward to deal with things unless eventually one 'splits apart'. I see splitting apart as the predecessor to 49 Molting - to transform, you first need something like 44 that leads to desperation point (47) to then split (23) and so, transform (49).

So, I don't see it as negative so much as great potential for radical change. As long as the splitting apart is not taken to the extreme of death or destruction or harm etc.

But make radical change slowly. Let it be a slow increase of positive forces until suddenly, like the straw that broke the camel's back, the change occurs. As for Splitting Apart, I use King Wen's primal meanings. The fundamental act of splitting apart is opening the soil (lower trigram) in order to plant seed, so 23 is a positive hexagram of early spring.

Hello, pocassin. It seems you have not been here in a while and have probably left for good, but I see a lot of your input on a lot of threads here. I just got this reading when asking about a friend who is going through some tough times right now. I like the way you can distill readings down to simple and easy to understand ideas. Wish you were still around.
