I became involved with a group and I was very keen/hopeful that they be what I was looking for, sincere inspirational, role models with integrity and wisdom. However bit by bit, I'm feeling they are not functioning on the level I wish they were or that they are actively claiming/advertising themselves to be. They are just not as deep or emotionally/spiritually developed as all that. I feel too large a percentage of the 'connection' they cultivate is about sales and if it is indeed coming from that foundation, is quite manipulative.
So I asked Yi - are my perceptions correct about this? 48.2.5-15

using Alfred Huang's reduction of moving lines, if two yin, consult the lower, which is 2
... seems to confirm my instincts?

In de korne on line 2 there is mention of the perils of developing others before ones own development is sufficient..which is exactly what I feel they are doing.. setting up as leaders without the necessary depth of learning and understanding.

This combination might point to the fact that you see clearly through things (48.5), which are not satisfying and deep (48.2), however this disappointment will always be there because of your ability to see
things through, therefore you should be temperate about it (15). OR temperate about your expectations.
Is there a way to find for another group that would fit your needs? Have you tried many already?

Thankyou inner truth, yes be more temperate in my expectations is good advice.
What I find incredibly disappointing is when people 'sell themselves' as something, they are literally on campaign but you think it's the real person, and out of wanting to be positive and think the best of people, I get drawn in and then get disappointed, again and again..

All this boils down to not listening to instincts. I'm slowly getting better at listening to them.
It's only taken a lifetime :duh:

But maybe I expect too much of my instincts, perhaps the situation served its purpose and I see a new side, as and when I need to..

United States is the best place for sales. Whole culture is penetrated by it. Hard to stay not involved if all energies around are charged with money making. But in the end, the gems are notso easy to find openly, overtly

Yes, they say "the business of America is business." Also, they say that the predominant type of personality in America is the salesman! You know, outgoing, always smiling . . . :)
