50.1.4 vs 30.2 for employment

Hello everyone,

So I've been offered a short-term contract which could give me a lot of money - which I really need right now as I'm having financial difficulties.

However, it would mean giving up my part-time job which I love and which is aligned with my ambitions. I could technically pick it up again after the contract's ended but I don't know if my employer would trust me after that.

What is the outcome if I take the short-term contract?
50.1.4 to 26

50.1 - no blame - I think given my financial situation, I can't really be blamed for tipping over the ting although I really don't want to
50.4 - the meal is spoiled - I'd be spoiling my part-time job and the trust I've earned there
26 - holding firm (I know that's not literal it just is the only bit that speaks to me here) the money would help me get my life in order and continue my studies which is really important to me

What is the outcome if I turn it down and continue my part-time job?
30.2 to 14

30.2 - this makes it sound like a really good idea
14 - reflecting my worries about money? Is it saying: 'don't be worried about the money, it will be fine' ?? That is really hard to believe right now! Or maybe it's saying, for you ultimately this is about money, you should base your decision off of that.
14 is about lots of money though, if it was about scarcity I might expect 27...

What's confusing is 30.2 seams like the more positive casting however it makes no sense for my circumstances as far as I can see.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

50.1.4 certainly doesn’t sound encouraging. Maybe referencing you having to quit your part time position? Could 26 has to do with learning from the elders. Could it be advising you speak with your current employer, explain that you need to take this opportunity but afterwards you’d like to come back? Learning to negotiate!

30.2 - 14 could just be saying that if you continue with your part time job you’ll be okay but not necessarily advising that you should… Could it mean that you could take this bit of a time out for the other job and the job would be there for you?

You ask for the outcome of a choice and the Yi's answer is about a cauldron. I believe you are that cauldron
In the first line, the cauldron is not used, it is upside down and there is an obstruction.
Are you in the right place in this temporary job, does this job make use of your talents and knowledge (the contents of the cauldron)?
In the fourth line, the legs of the cauldron break and the contents are the spoiled. Here, the cauldron loses its base and the contents cannot be used any longer.
The duke is a higher-ranking person and can refer to your current manager.
You could interpret this line to mean that when you make this choice, you are no longer welcome in your current job.
H26 is the hexagram of self-control, of saving strength. Mountain sets limits, controls the power of Heaven.
All in all, this does not strike me as an encouragement to take up the offer.

I think Rosada's advice is a very good one:
Speak with your manager and explain your situation (including the financial difficulties).

H30 is about making things clear, providing transparency.
The lower trigram Fire turns into Heaven by the moving 2nd line.
This line in Fire is about the heart of things and allows Clarity (H30) to turn into Great Possession (H14). This could indicate that a solution to your financial difficulties can be found within your current job (Trigram Heaven belongs to the element Metal and is therefore associated with money).
So choosing to stay in your current job AND having a conversation with your manager seems like a much better option to me.

This would be my interpretation. As always take what resonates and leave the rest 😉

Thank you both, you have given me a lot to ponder today. I think you're right in terms of course of action. I also had the thought that the current job could potentially offer me more and better paid work down the line, so that could be 14, in the long-term.

Not necessarily long-term, who knows what the manager will come up with when you talk to him/her. Keep the outcome/future open and don't start filling it in beforehand.

Are you sure of the conditions that are offered in this short-term contract?

...beware of "shocking ambition" in the way you want to "cook (hex50) this offer with potential significance(hex26) in your finances".
If you look at the yin yang "changing patterns",(yin:hex57 yang:hex51) ... there is something "shocking" that is fueling this way of wanting to solve your financial situation and that is expressing an influence to consider " ingredients of corruption" in your union with this potential offer.

Thank you breakmov. I think that sums it up perfectly. I felt stressed so wanted to grabb at the first solution that came along even though it doesn't fit in with my life.

I think I actually need to consider, 'why do I believe I have to do a job I don't like in order to support myself?' and 'why don't I believe I can make money in my area of talent and interest?'

Thank you for the reminder Hans_K, you're right, it's a bad habit of mine to want to fill in future details ahead of time instead of being open to what CAN happen. Probably a habit I am misapplying in my consultations with the Yi with negative effects.
