An interpretation: The 'companion' is sick because of an unpropitiated ancestral spirit. The line represents a ding offering to a spirit. Such an offering protects the offerer from sickness -- "Cannot approach me."

So i have just come to a personal realisation of something I can't put into words but understand needs to be stripped away.
When questioning what needs to be srtipped away was answered with 50.2 and what is said in the above resonates in the first sentence, how then can I look further into this. thks and blessings Melissa x

Could a negative ancestral influence -- attitude or value -- be causing problems now?

Yes Pocossin, I get that, definitely, I am just wondering how I can pinpoint what that is really?
Astrologically I have Pisces in the South Node so I can now understand it is habitual patterns from the past that is the block but trying to work out and then through that is the tricky part.
So can IChing shed any light on anything relative and how far into each Hex do I need to go, like really pulling the Hex apart and pulling everything possible from it or is sometimes just the basic meaning enough.
From what I can understand from the shared readings it sometimes important to look at the changing lines and sometimes not and sometimes reading the changing Hex.
Agh! Hope I'm making sense, I appreciate your help so I can move on personally and I can learn to understand the IChing.
IChing to me is a bit like music you could study it forever and there would still be something to discover.

I connect h50 with state of mind, because it's from here that everything else we say or do depends. I can see state of mind entering one of insecurity at line 2, and thus the need to be reassured, that just because the world seems mixed up and crazy, doesn't necessarily mean I have to be, nor is it even imperative that my state is obliged to interfere with the others' reality. Therefore, I am unbridled from their recipe. I can cook like my Italian grandmother: a lilla dis, a lilla datta; anda let it cooka slow.

I like the ancestral connection, as that is the true grounding of our being, may we like it or not. Their ghosts can continue to haunt us, or we can make peace with them and (re)declare loyalty to the clan, to our root.
