Hi friends,

I am currently a local activist sign maker for progressive causes in my rural area. We are up against a ballot measure that “will decide whether to prohibit county resources from being used to enforce any local, state and federal law or regulation that restricts the right to keep and bear firearms, accessories or ammunition.”

Open carry is already allowed in Oregon, with a permit. We are seeing a locally active hate group regularly open carry AKs when they show up to oppose BLM protests. Someone at a local rally last week shot at protesters in Portland soon after. Members of the Proud Boys are making death threats. The “sanctuary” law is written using the concept and template of the legislation used to create sanctuary cities for refugees.

My question was: “what would a good motto be for signs to oppose gun sanctuary?” Result: 58.1.4.5<7. On the face of it, the primary and corresponding hexes could literally be read as: “open” (58) “weapon” (7). The humor and accuracy of the oracle! Line 1: open carry is good/fine (already legal). 2: negotiating opening (ballot measure) needs to be contained (opposed/restricted?). 5: more clarity needed in this line. Don’t be too trusting? Don’t overstep what’s reasonable?

Curious about interpretations on line 5, AND any thoughts for how to condense this reading into a 2-4 word motto. I picked my Twitter handle this morning using the Yi and it was so lovely!

bows,

Iris
