hello there...I'm curious about people's experiences/responses to hex. 61, Inner Truth...I consulted Yi about a relationship and received 58.4.6 > 61. Now, I have questions about the changing lines, but the reason the 61 gives me pause is that Karcher seems to say that 61 is about the NEED for reconciling inner truth with the outer world, rather than already posessing or living that inner truth. (does that make sense?)

In other words, is this relationship inhabiting a state of inner truth, is it moving toward a state of inner truth, or is it in need of being reconciled with inner truth?

I consulted Yi about a relationship and received 58.4.6 > 61.

You are uneasy about your relationship as choices need to be made, you really need to get to a deeper level with it as it is too superficial at the moment, so you need to stop chasing pure pleasure and aim for something special.
Hex 61 says that you need to approach your partner in an open and honest manner, you need to talk to them in a very truthful way, so explain your feelings to them and listen to what they have to say also.

I think that you are losing touch with your inner truth. The relationship lacks depth and is based on lust. In my view, the Yi is saying that is up to you to decide if this is the kind of relationship that you want in your life, otherwise your future will depend on fate and external circumstances.

Thanks all for the repsonses; I'm curious at your feelings about 58.4.6, since you seem to feel that the relationship is lacking...I get the notions of seduction/manipulation that those lines imply, but I'd love to hear if you have any more insights into them...thanks...

The only interpretation that I can offer on Hex 58 4th and 6th lines is based on my personal experience. I usually find those lines particularly negative in any scenario let alone a relationship. In my view, those lines have strong sexual connotations, as suggesting that someone is seeking only pleasure and a kind of joy that is just hollow. My impression is that you have let yourself been drawn into a relationship that is very much based on physical attraction and either you do not want or you are powerless to create something deeper and/or meaningful. Those lines suggest that either you are already suffering or you will in the future if things are kept just the way they are now. You might have been having pleasure at the moment but I do not think that you have got peace of mind. I believe that the Yi is drawing your attention to a fundamental aspect of the relationship and advising you to reflect on it in order to make the right decisions. However, whatever the path you choose I believe that the Yi is saying that the reason should prevail over passion and you should tap into your inner truth to get the answer.
