Hi there,
I asked on behalf of a close friend "will he get the job?" and received 61.5 to 41.
My impression is this is a very positive sign for his chances but is very much about maintaining his honesty and integrity and being himself. He's naturally quite outspoken and very values driven so this fits with him personality wise. The job would involve running a large organisation, a big step up and lots of responsibility, and moving to a new city, so there would be loss as well as gain (41?).
Do I have this right? I'd appreciate your thoughts on this!
Thanks,
E

If Yi's answer is predictive, I'd say yes, he or she will be offered a job, but may not receive the compensation they hoped for, or else with a loss to personal freedom and autonomy or personal glory. In other words, the position requires a buy-in into the system. But from the bonding influence of line 5, it looks like a natural match.

Thank you, Meng,
from what I know of the job and organisation, what you say is probably very true. I suspect its a great opportunity for him though and well worth the potential downsides.

interestingly I just found out he didn't get the job, so obviously not a predictive response from the i ching! I wonder if this refers to the way he needs to be or proceed right now...hmmmm...

Curious if you can share the kind of position he applied for, and/or the reason he/she didn't get it.

the job was running a public sector organisation, which he already works for, and they decided to only interview one internal candidate. The interesting thing is, even though it would have been an interesting opportunity, I suspect there also would have been a bit of a values clash, and it didn't represent what he 'really' wants to do. I think it seemed like something he should go for, to have the experience...since both 61 and 41 seem to be dealing with inner truthfulness and integrity, maybe this outcome fits...?

to run a double check, i would frankly ask your friend wether, when he got the opportunity of the job, yet didnt know wether he got the job or not, he felt that getting the job was 'right' in a general sense, or not. in case he felt that in some way was not right, or not in harmony with the proper direction of his priority and priority of his loved ones, then the iching result would have been very accurate.

I find those lines that say "no mistake" to be quite tricky. Often (but not always), no matter how positive they sound, things do not turn out as I had hoped -- which I suppose is one way to read "no mistake"--"it looks like things have gone wrong, but they have not."

Thank you for all of your input, I really appreciate your thoughts on this. I think he's comfortable that this wasn't exactly the right opportunity for him, and that as knot point out, there is 'no mistake' with the outcome.
Its been interesting working my way through this though!

Thank you. It matches with my comments re 41, i.e government/public sector rather than an independent entrepreneurial business.

bit more interesting feedback, turns out today he was offered an alternative senior position in the same organisation! Feels a bit 41ish to me...:)

Interesting. Thanks for getting back on it, Edge.

Yes, 61.5 in a 41. A main sitar string which other strings sympathize with, to the benefit of the whole instrument, and extended outward to include the air it moves and the ears which hear.
