I am intending to go out into the neighborhood today to see if there's any good stuff being offered at the various yard sales. I asked the I Ching how it might go and received 64. 5 - 6 Before Completion changing to Conflict. I'm thinking this could mean "Buyer Beware!" Like the deal may seem very worthwhile Before Completion, but I might not be so pleased afterwards. Maybe encouragement that Before Completing the sale, try bargaining for a better price? (thinking Conflict = bargaining) Anyway, I thought I'd post this now and I'll report back later what actually manifests. Meanwhile, please visualize me only bringing home what's right! Thanks!!

I think you will be in the process of a transaction and you will notice a flaw or something’s not quite right and either tell them you’ve changed your mind because of it or attempt to bargain them down and the seller won’t like it.

It might also be to not 'lose your head' over some object. It might entice you, but maybe to remember 'buyer beware' and to not let it's 'bright and shiny' keep you from seeing its flaws or broken parts, e.g. 'I know it doesn't work and that it will cost me hundreds of dollars to fix, but I really liked the sparkeles in the paint job, so I bought it - and paid way too much!'

Is there some confusion about the cast? 64.5 to 6 is quite nice, I think. Losing one's head is in line 6.

'Constancy, good fortune, no regrets.
A noble one’s radiance.
There is truth and confidence, good fortune.'

Maybe it means confident negotiation will work well? "Not Yet Across's moment of Arguing" - bartering before the sale? - and then the line text that comes from that is quite promising.

Hilary often says hexagram 6 is like a hissy fit, where one protests the unfairness of whatever. Maybe 64 and 6 connect well because the arguing is done before it gets to that point?

You haven't still found the yard and there will be conflict- negotiation? Anyway keep on searching and you'll find good opportunities.

Well here's what actually happened..
We went to several sales but I think the moment these hexagrams referred to was when I found a very nice clean, smooshy stuffed Santa Claus doll, a "radiant noble one." The seller was asking $2, I offered $1. I truly did not care if I didn't get the doll - Maybe a 6.4 moment as in I was feeling, okay, have it your way, don't sell me the doll - and when she recognized I wasn't bluffing the seller said, "Okay, you can have it for $1" It was all very friendly but I felt kinda bad afterwards cause it was certainly worth the two dollars to someone but just not to me but they were willing to sell it so, hurray, I got it. Maybe that's why 64.5 cautions "Have no regrets" because if you do you will 6.Argue with yourself afterwards!

Anyway, we went to several yard sales and usually I find a lot of do-dads and buy them, play with them for a bit and pass them on but yesterday - probably because I was so freaked by the reading! - I kept second guessing myself. picking things up and then putting them back as in Before Completion I would Argue myself out of making the purchase!

Not sure how I would sum up 64.5-6. Before Completion/Arguing. Maybe something like "Life is a contest "
(and you have to be strong to accept being a winner! ;))

Thank you for explaining what happened. I'm glad you found a nice 🎅!

I wonder if part of a post-mortem of the reading - trying to figure out how this worked, hopefully to help with other readings - might be to note these things you're saying -

you will 6.Argue with yourself afterwards
as in Before Completion I would Argue myself out of making the purchase

- and put that together with the fact that hexagram 6, Arguing, was your relating hexagram, which Hilary usually says is "your" hexagram as the querent, what it's about for you. And how Yi gave you 64.5 to 6, rather than 6.5 to 64, which also would have been an encouraging reading, I think (line 5 is the only line of hexagram 6 where arguing is a good idea).

Hmhmhm. 🤔
