Hi everyone, first post here.

I asked I Ching about Ieaving the band that I am currently playing guitar in. Something just does not feel right, and the the rest of the band is in an engagement that I decided not to join at the moment. This will not hinder me from playing with them in the future, but I thought maybe it is time to start working on my own project. So I decided to ask the I Ching, and got 8.2.3 > 48.

I read 48 as working on my own project might succeed, yet there are risks also. Yet, I am not sure what I Ching is telling me about leaving the band.

What would you advise about this?

8: your band
line 2: staying inside your band with the hint that it would not be good enough to go live
line 3: bad idea

48: organization, make a plan

follow-up question: ask the Yi what is the plan that you should make

8 - Sharing

Sharing a common vision. Hesitations can lead to regrets.

2 - Someone has been friendly in private, one shall not embarrass them in public because that would provoke jealousy.

3 - One has established relations with unpleasant people.
In the making
48 - Organization

One distributes their action according to a plan.

Thanks!

I did ask for the plan, and I got 61.1.3 > 57 , which I mostly interpret positive and encouraging.

And about line 3 of 8.1.3, is it a bad idea to leave the band, or stay? I thought it refers to the other members as 'non-people' ?

You are right to question about this 8.3 maybe I didn't interpret correctly

8.2 tells you about staying inside your band and that you cannot perform in public (for the time being)
8.3 tells you that your band suck

I did ask for the plan, and I got 61.1.3 > 57 , which I mostly interpret positive and encouraging.

61: you need to make progress

line 1: keep practicing/making songs until someone asks for you
line 3: someone will like your playstyle

57: you will be approached

The decision
61 - Immobilized

Show patience, one is asked to make progress.

1 - Preparing what is necessary but waiting to be asked for it.

3 - One falls in love, it brings pleasures and pains.
In the making
57 - Answer

One goes after being approached.

So you can stay in your band but you'd better become more serious and practice a lot.

Maybe the Yi is telling you to leave them until they have made sufficient progress. Seeing that you left, they might be encouraged to practice more seriously.

61.1 Prepare, but if there are secret plans it is disquieting.
61.3 Sometimes it's good, sometimes not so good. Play from your heart.
57. Travel about, keep your eyes open for opportunity.

Reads to me like a suggestion that while you should keep your eyes open for new opportunities you should continue to play with your band and with sincerity, that is, not with a feeling you are about to jump ship.
