My ancient, faithful Toyota finally puttered its last a few days ago, and I need to replace it.

A neighbor is selling what looks like a very reliable car (same model my parents have, and theirs has been rock-solid) at a realistic price. I asked whether I should buy it and got 9.1,5 -> 18. The first hex seems apropos and positive, but then I'm not sure what to make of the 18 -- unless it's referring to the the long-masked trouble in my old car. Any thoughts?

(Naturally I'm going to take it to a mechanic before signing anything.)

Hex 9.1 this says that you should not blindly rush ahead otherwise you will meet up with problems, so hold back a bit here and really give this car a good going over, do not commit to anything for the moment. Have a good think what you really want, then you will be satisfied with the outcome.

Hex 9.5 this line is good, it says that "neighbors enrich each other". If you know this neighbor well then there is much less chance they will sell you something bad, in actual fact it looks like you can do a very successful deal here, so if you buy their car then you will be both happy.

Hex 18 is about fixing what has been spoilt, in this case your car is dead. Can it be fixed? But, the question is not about your car, it is about your neighbor's car, so, then the answer would be to buy this car in question. Your mode of transport has been spoiled so to remedy the situation this car looks like a sure deal.

What do you make of 18 as the second hexagram?

Can you explain the mystery of why it took 14 years to return, we often wonder about why people don't go back to threads.

I think willowfox was right about that 18, in that it described the context in which I needed a car in the first place.

9.1: The car in question, a modest green Honda, was a familiar and frugal choice, resembling that old Toyota in that it was second-hand and Japanese.

9.5: my neighbor was a good, reliable source for the car.

Trojina, I suppose 9.1 might also hint at my returning to this thread 14 years later. I'm about to effectively give the car to one of the builder's assistants working on the bathroom here, who needs it much more than I do. I was reflecting on what a solid, reliable car it's been for all those years. I hunted around till I found the old thread.
